A tornado is a violent windstorm characterized by a twisting, funnel-shaped cloud. It is spawned by a thunderstorm (or sometimes as a result of a hurricane) and produced when cool air overrides a layer of warm air, forcing the warm air to rise rapidly. The damage from a tornado is a result of the high wind velocity and wind-blown debris. Tornado season is generally March through August, although tornadoes can occur at any time of year. They tend to occur in the afternoons and evenings: over 80 percent of all tornadoes strike between noon and midnight...
When a tornado is coming, you have only a short amount of time to make life-or-death decisions. Advance planning and quick response are the keys to surviving a tornado..What is the Best Place or Safe area in ur home right now?

Have you ever seen a Tornado? Was Your Property Damaged? Were you A Survivor? What was your Reaction when U saw a Tornado?
Will U grab anything before heading to a safe Spot to Hide?

Good Topic sis....

About a few years ago, I had seen the very first tornado here in my town when I've never seen one in my life...when I first heard about the warning on TV...I looked outside there was this horrible wind , the cloud was dark...and it was pouring and lighten outside....then all the sudden I saw this darkness cloud spinning around ...its really hard to explain but I knew it was a tornado so , I got my boys together and we went in the hallway where there were no windows around....I do not have a basement but a type of house like I have we use a hallway for safety in case of Tornado...I remember my older son was crying because he heard a loud banging noises....at that moment I thought maybe my roof was going to tear up....or blown away...then about about an hour it became quiet...like there wasn't that hard winds or banging noises anymore...so when I got up..I notice outside there were my patio chairs , table etc all over the back yard....seeing tree branches everywhere it was an awful looks ....nothing was damaged toward my house ...so I suppose we were so lucky ...

I would RUN to the next town. Actually if I have bionic in my legs like bionic woman or 6 millon dollar man then I'll ZOOOOOOOOOOOOM to the next town or state.. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

well, I never saw torando in my life which is so lucky for me. I :dunno: how react will I have if I see the one. I probably will  for sure.

Ive watch so much torando stories on TV. It was so amazing to see people made it thru, some weren't. BUT when you see the tornado running thru the field to look so beautiful but very dangerous.

I was in a torando watch warning and gawd the winds OMG it was WHOA i wasn unexpected it missed us by three towns over i just couldn't belive it! thats when i was living in tenn for a VERY breif time but still the experince was a lifetime!

have seen tornado 7 times in my life... nothing damaged my hometown.. but their homes are damged.. the worse one when i was 9 yrs old.. a tornado was at my mom's apt.. and it's apporching closer and closer..

Here in minn.. Apts.. are scary when tornado is on the way.. because APTS don't have basement but they have a tornado shelter which is a couple hundren feets away.. you might have to go outside and run in length of 1 or 2 football field to go in tornado shelter where most apts here in minn have..

however.. that tornado is too close and derbis is flying around the air.. wood sticks, glass, etc.. so its too dangerous to go outside u can get cut, even killed from those derbis.. so we suffer took a blanket to cover our body to prevent getting cuts, etc.. and stay under the table.. our apt is 3rd floor and we have no way to go to 1st floor.

pretty scary..

Last year. there's a tornado here in my hometown next to my work at wal-mart.. when it touch down every customers, employees are required to stay in buliding in middle of the store.. but however me and my co-worker are nuts.. we went outside to take a look at it :P its so beautiful.. my co-worker took pictures.. its beautiful but scary.

Nope, I've never seen a tornado or anything. However, my family's boat survived. A tornado ripped through the marina that my family's boat was docked in. Half of the marina was destroyed and the other half survived... where the boat was. Whew!

There's no tornado in Alaska, so I've never seen one. I am sure there's some tornados in the lower 48 states. :)

Tornadoes: Nature's most violent wind

Tornadoes have struck every U.S. state, including Alaska and Hawaii. But most tornadoes form in a belt from Nebraska southward through central Texas known as Tornado Alley and in the Southeast. Wind speeds in tornadoes can vary from 72 to almost 300 mph. Fortunately, only 2 percent of all tornadoes have winds greater than 200 mph.

A tornado hitchhiked along the highway in the country (30 miles from the side of the highway) in mid-April. Boy it is a very wide funnel and luckily it didn't go to our car at that day. It was going through a wheat farm.
