I am wondering if there's an equiment for the deaf for torando alert? Just in case i sleep in middle of night and it happens, couldn't hear the siren raid.:ugh:

eek

i have NOOOOOO idea and u do have a point!

*waiting for those in the midwest to post in ref to this to see if there is a system*

edit: just realized i shouldve also mentioned those in the PLAINS as thats also tornado alley

"torando"? You mean "tornado"? Anyway, I don't see why there should be a system for tornado alerts since we feel the tornado or see it before we need to hear it!

True, but what about if you're sleeping? How would you know if it's coming while you're sound asleep? Maybe some of us can't even feel a thing when really sound asleep.

well Vampy -- that would work if we were awake im sure -- but what abt if we were  qq

if i could i would chase the tornado!!!! :-x

2 years ago, i was told by old friend of mine who work for Home group in one of Midwest states. she carry special device (size like one hand) with the group. Feel vibes then that mean that's warning. That's all I know of.

About night time, that's good question. I born and raised in Texas (famous history for many tornadoes hitted there). None of any information about special device for torando alert for wake up the deafies during night time.

Actually such is available. You can try get in touch with someone over at your local centre for the deaf/hearing impaired. They should be able to help you with that. Good luck.

ahh... u guys brought the tornado issue up... I know a hearing who just lost his hearing 100% through auto accident. so he use a baby cry thingie... ya know when baby cry and the light flash in ur room or something... he used that kind of thing by the window and sleep.... he lives in small town... once in a while his room flashes and wake up and went to watch tv then he'd go down under and cover himself up and sleep until the morning time... what what he usually does...

Thanks for your info, surprised it accually happen last tuesday night :eek2: lucky i was at work that time sitting 2 hours waiting for it to go away, feel nothing, it was accualy 300-500 feet from my work place. Fun to watch though:)

at least you get a thril riding in a tornado before coming down to earth n die...

anyway, I'm wondering if any of you guys know who i can contact to have them invent one? any ideas who invents things?

The fact is that there's an average 800 tornado each year in U.S.
This sounds like it's a reasonable thing to invent one. :)

i havs slept through many tornadoes, i even slept through one that knocked down most of the trees in my neighorbohood. i have NEVER felt the vibraations.
