I was at my psych evaluation for my new job here on campus. If you don't already know, I am a hearie. Well, he asked me if I could ever hear things that my friends around me can't hear. Well, most of my friends are deaf, so I had to say "All the time.....when I am around my Deaf friends" LOL

That’s the best snappy comeback I’ve heard in a long time. I’m gonna remember that one and use it some day myself. Just goes to show how stupid the questions on those tests really are. Abnormal psych textbooks often state that deaf people have tendencies towards paranoia. The reason for this is that deaf people almost always score positively for paranoia on the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory). One of the questions on the MMPI that tests for paranoid tendencies is "do people stare at you in restaurants"? Of course, Deaf people always answer "yes" to that question. D’oh!
