This is what happens

Looks like MADD has made a difference. Also, the early years of the chart, I believe that under 21 could still drink legally in some areas.

Most stadiums have a DD program now where you wear an armband saying you are the designated driver and you get free sodas. That helps I'm sure.

DUI laws have been in existence long before MADD ever became an idea. That tells people right there they should not drink and drive. It is illegal. It would not be illegal if if was something people should be doing.

Are you suggesting MADD is worthless? They were the ones that created some of the first ad campaigns way back.

I know a guy who is a parking lot attendant at a local watering hole. His job is to steer away those who would park there to go to another business nearby. He says that he is used to anger, but those who were drinking tend to act upon their anger , so he uses extra caution and diplomacy in dealing with them. Hah.

Great idea. Wonder where the DD idea came from? :hmm:

It was a reflection on what I do for myself. Works for me. Keeps me at an even keel. My body demands activity.

That is great. But it addresses your physical health, not the contribution individuals make on that allow hatred and discrimination to be an accepted part of our society.

Yeppers. Anger is already there. Alcohol does not create it. Just allows the individual to act on it with less provocation.

I doubt that. I feel that the owners of the stadium will have the cost. Ticket prices will be jacked up higher to cover the cost of having a riot team on standby...

I think ticket prices are already a factor. It's $1300 fo 4 tickets to a Cowboys game in my section. (face value) I know I don't drink anymore because at those prices I don't want to miss the game standing in line for the bathroom.

I think their techniques are pretty worthless when it comes to addressing the prevalence of alcohol and drug use in this country. People already know that it is illegal and dangerous to drink and drive. Telling them again isn't going to make a difference.

The Federal Uniform Drinking Age Act, signed into law in 1984.

It absolutely does have a negative effect on their decision making. Look at how many people have died (and gotten injured) in alcohol-related car crashes every year. You don't need a PhD to understand that too much alcohol can impair judgement and senses.

And? Are you saying that people under drinking age don't consume alcohol and die in alcohol related accidents?

She is saying they aren't served legally in bars.

They were a pioneer in the ad campaigns. Their methods are outdated now, but they were one of the first to get the ball rolling. Funny, I mention them and EVERYONE knows who I mean. Guess they failed to make an impression.

I have made that clear several times in this thread. Address the issue of hatred and the ways in which society supports it.
That's it? Just address the issue and it will go away?

How would you address hatred in a way that would make it disappear?

It has to start with the construction of society. Not addressing it certainly doesn't make it better, now does it? Silly girl.

There. Pretty simple. Just reconstruct society!

The emphasis of MADD isn't that DUI is illegal. Like you said, drivers know that. Their emphasis is showing the people how DUI impacts individuals, families, and society.

So, how would you do it better?

Not at all. I don't know where you came up with that. I merely provided the name and date for reference.

If I want to say something, I will say it. Why do you have to make a challenge out of every little thing I post?
