The Cost of Living

I'm just glad that you confessed it, and failed to cover it up.
Well, are you going to pray to forgive your sins (lying) before going to bed?
Sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry, AquaBlue!

Let's go back to original topic.

Statistically Arkansas has the cheapest living cost in the United States.

Yes and no. Little Rock was rated as one of the most expensive cities in America according to a friend of mine who is a top executive in real estate. Other cities in Arkansas (and towns) however rate pretty cheap - but the average income of families is very low. You should see what us teachers make - it is pitiful and embarrassing.

Last year I moved out west and was like, "whoo hoo!" I'm making thousands of more dollars...BUT...the cost of living was much more higher...so I was broke as usual. The new place I'm moving to, the cost of living is even higher than where I'm at now. I'm will be making even more money...but in the end, for me...the salary and cost of living cancels each other out.

I am huge fan of Bert Sperling - I have collected his books over the years since I was a middle schooler!

Everything is getting more expensive and the cost of living goes up much higher now days. Some cities are easy to live in without a car, thanks to good public transportation and bike paths. But in other cities, a car truly is a necessity. Look into carpooling with friends or coworkers. Or, you'll have to cut back somewhere else in your budget -- say, spend less on food and entertainment or take on a roommate to split the cost of rent to help make ends meet. Even houses are costing too much money when they try to sell it for too much for people can't afford to buy it. It probaby get much worst with the cost of living goes higher and we all go broke! ahh

California is not a place what you want to live because it is expensive of cost of living. I live in NorCal, i love it, affordable for me, pretty cheap-expensive for me, fits in my lifestyle. (not biggie deal for me, lol).

I believe its depend on those states to match what they have in states. For example, California is expensive because of those people who make a lot of money such as 40,000 to 100,000 a year as salary...No way that im not telling you what it is mine. Get idea?

Try this...

Cost of Living Comparison

It compares cost of living between two locations. :)

I'm moving with one or two months...so I used this link to compare my current city with my new designation.

Pretty much everything is the same - which was surprising...but the biggest increase was utilities. Utilities in my "new" city is well more than double. YIKES! I better get used to reading with candles, suffering the heat without AC, freezing in the winter (sleeping with my snowsuit on), taking sponge baths, and washing my clothes in the creek. :(

Yeah.

I have a friend who makes $60,000 a year. It sounds like good money, but it isn't. The cost of living where he is... is very high. So, that is "low pay" for him. ;)

I second you, my son and his wife make good money and they just bought house but they are living on edge. It is hard to put money into saving account now these days.

Are you kidding me? washing clothes in the creek? I have seen them do it in the river and it is against law around here.

that means saving money means stop spending on junks, little things we don't need and save it on bills, gas and the house. But I do hope people will "boycott" against the gas companies to stop having high prices gas.

Yeah.

No kidding! On paper my and my husband's combined income looks awesome but in reality, with these rising costs, we are practically living from paycheck to paycheck.

And we should stop buying everything in plastic since they were made out of oil.

GMT yea hope so ..... so they learn lesson even they should learn from 73 crisis! i dont think they did learn lesson from that yet.. rme!

California is almost closer to 5 bucks a gal!!

More spend on my truck from my pocket, and more worry to driving my motorcycle more than i usually. Damn.

In my newspaper this morning, talks about how other prices will follow gas to be much higher cost of living. :(

Our salaries better match our costs of living! Then I would not complain. In the old days, things were cheaper too.. imagine how our grandparents had to adjust to higher costs of living too. The problem is that oil is not a renewable resource, and we are dealing with the limitations now. We are likely in a recession now or facing it, and that complicates things further.
