Thank you, veterans

Sel90 and Maria, you are both very sweet to honor veterans. Thank you. However, Veterans' Day is to honor vets still alive. That's why a lot of us marched in parades last weekend.

Memorial Day in May is to honor those who sacrifieced their lives for their country.

This reminds me of the confusion my two small grandsons had. I took them to the Vietnam Wall, the traveling version of the memorial in Washington D.C.

The looked and looked and looked. I was proud that they seem to study each and every name. Finally, they returned and one said, "Grampa, we thought you went to Vietnam two times."

"I did," I said.

"Then how come we can't find your name?"

When I explained the names were of men and women who died in Vietnam, they were disappointed at first, then said they were glad I was only a veteran and not a hero. I had to laugh.

It's all good. These questions and comments help the younger generations to understand holidays and what they have to do with history.

Thats a good explaination Chase - Thanks.
Hubby is also a Vietnam Vet. - Australian Army. I do agree that these questions and comments do help us all understand what these 'days' are for and why we have them.

Kangaroo :)

Tomorrow is again Veterans Day.

:ty: to all our veterans!

My father was a veteran of Korea.

It is good we have this day to honor service to our country.

My father is a veteran of three wars (WWII, Korea, and Vietnam). He and my mother are still alive and I will visit them tomorrow.

Definitely, These veterans are commended. They once fought and protected this country not because of order but because of their compassion.

So, with that, Many thanks to the veterans for they once served our country under grace.

Thank you jol!

I was just thinking about this.

Seems to me a lot of people think of Veterans Day is just another day off! :(

But we do need to remember our Veterans that simply fought for our country.

Some are deceased and some are living. I have two uncles that fought in Vietnam.

One was drafted the other went by choice. Both are still alive to tell the story.

I applaud all our Vets that fought for our country!

The American Flag is flying high at my house proudly.

My step grandpa is an veteran of Vietnam, and two of my uncles are either still or recently finished with the middle east.
