I heard negative about Tanning bed for years...

- cause Aging skin problems (wrinkles)
- skin cancer
- skin damage

What do you think of this?

I would like to hear your opinion on this.

Come and discuss.... and share your experience here with us... what you know about postive or negative?

I had been tried ONCE at my aunt before I married...

One of my cousin's tried a tanner at her neighbours. She thought it was neat but gave up after reading some magazines about the bad side effects. The wrinkling one is one that scared her. Her neighbour hasn't shown any bad signs yet and even gets complimented on her tan. My cousin had a nick-name for the tanning bed.... Body nuker!

:Ohno: ~ Have not try it yet....

I like sun cook me turn into golden tan more... but glad I'm not turning into the lobster yet!

Tanning beds and natural sun both cause skin damage.

I don't need any more wrinkles, thank you. :P

Never experienced a tanning bed cuz I was a sun whorshiper growing up in AZ. Now, I am worried that I may get skin cancer cuz so many members of my family have skin cancer. I noticed that my skin texture looks much healthier since moving to MD due to less sun exposure. I dont whorship the sun anymore. Dont need more wrinkles..pls!

well yea it true it cause cancer or other..

cuz of my ex PE teacher, go tanning bed everyday and many yrs til hitted she got cancer breast.... she still alive.. she stopped tanning bed...

also my friend go tanning bed lot and she got twice lump in her breasts cuz of tanning bed caused..

Yes it is true if you go to tanning bed a lot, you could get a skin cancer, skin damage, and wrinkles.

I used to go to tanning bed before only for the beach and wedding, but now not anymore because I didn't want any wrinkles, I already got wrinkles on my feet so I had to put lotion on it everyday to make it go away and it helped.

My aunt had a lot of wrinkles because of tanning bed she have tanning bed at home.

My sister went to tanning bed few times but dunno if she still go there in summer time .. For me no I refused go to tanning bed :) which I dont like it :)

Yes, tanning booths cause problems if they are used excessively or improperly.

I also think that it's pointless to try to get a fake tan. I've seen some people who look ugly because they got fake tans instead of real tans.

I used to go there, until few years ago, the shop assistant want me to sign the contract form that I cannot sue them if I have a skin cancer later on, so I gave up.

Fake Tan spray is very popular, but one thing it has stange odour!!

I used to go tanning all the time when I was in my teens, looking good for my prom, sometimes I went after high school too, just to get a good looking tan, yes it does cause skin cancer only if they go every single day or if they get burn too easy after the first tanning session, Always use it with caution, like if you think you'll get burn too easy go for like five minutes, don't harm yourself by going too long. ;)

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation:

Tanning salon owners say tanning machines are safer than outdoor tanning for two reasons: 1) they mainly use UVA rays, and 2) they offer more "controlled" UV exposure. However, we know now that UVA is a carcinogen, and studies have revealed that tanning salons frequently exceed "safe" UV limits. Study after study has shown that sunbed tanning increases the risk of both melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers.

...Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths.

...Dr. Franzblau believes that eliminating tanning salons "would be 100 percent more effective" than regulating them. And it could save millions of lives.

...And in 2002, a study from Dartmouth Medical School found that tanning device users had 2.5 times the risk of squamous cell carcinoma and 1.5 times the risk of basal cell carcinoma.

I don't believe in sunbath and so far they are real dangerous than original sun. When they are tanned in early days then they gets older, have blemish on the skins. The epiderms cells the sunbath rays changes the cells into strange colour. Cant see it in the naked eyes, needs to see the special skin ray to see if theres any freckles inside behind the skins. It is real scary enough and I wouldn't want to touch sunbath myself and Im very white and redhead myself.

Interesting, I heard that original sun make your body vitamin D when sun touch your skin?

I don't do sunbath to tan myself but sit outdoor, work at garden or ride the bicycle that's how I got tan...

Thank you for your feedback... I appreciate your feedback very much...

Yes, I'm agree with you all that I heard the same things what you all said here. The reason I ask you question here because I joined Fitness Studio at 2 weeks ago - I can use solarium, sauna, drinks, yoga, fitness, etc as often as I like... they are including in one price... I choose anything what I like except solarium.

Yes, natural sunshine is a good source of vitamin D but you can also get it in vitamin pills or fortified milk.

I use sunblock for my face and neck but still I get a "farmers" tan when I do so much work out in my yard and garden. That is, the back of my neck and my arms get too much such while I work outside. Like yesterday, I was outside raking leaves for several hours. I got some sun on my arms.
