SSDI/Medicaid...

... I know one thing...when hearing people who are out of work...they are either receiving ssi or unemployment or vacation pay or early retirement while their spouse go to work...
Not all hearing people get those benefits. My Hubby, daughter, and son-in-law are all self-employed. When they are sick or injured, and can't work, they get nothing, zero, zip. No SSI, no unemployment, no vacation pay, no sick pay, no early retirement. I work part-time for an interpreting service, and I get paid by the hour. If I am sick or injured and can't work, I don't get paid, period. I cannot collect SSI, unemployment, etc.

I am sorry to hear what you have been going through. God is with you every minutes of your life.

I know that feeling when come to the bills. I have a heart condition. I received a bills from the dr. and the hospital, it just little over $400. I am making a small payment and they can't do anything about it.

I do have medicare but it doesn't all of it. If I want to have mediaid I have to work and prove to the welfare that I am working. I used to have mediaid but it stopped last February cuz I got lay off. I will go back and try again in Sept since the school will start.

I will be praying for you and your health. Keep us posted. Don't give up.

From DHS different state and different law and that can be crazy.

Coloravalache, yeah I agree with you. The SS office give people unfair amounts. My friend gets $900 a month and he got more it because his mom died in 1985. I only get $518 a month from SSDI and I work part time, still not enough money, grr. I would suggest you to ask doctor for proof copy and show it to social security and tell them that you cannot work and you have health issues. I think that works the best. I hope you can get things figured out and get sufficent amount of money while u cannot work.

Your friend who gets $900 a month...is he underage? If he's under 18..thats a different story..but if he's over 18, he shouldnt receive that amount of money.

Yes, It's a good idea - will plan to have my cancer doctor write a letter and my counselor also. :) Thanks for recommending! :)

That isnt fair! He is 40..come on! he can work part time...wheelchair people do work...I rather to work..not to stay home or receive ssdi...sigh!

If the ssdi reject the doctor and counselor letters...then I will fight and write complaint to the President. :)

Someday you will gulped realized what she been thru hell. Some cancer is life threatening. Maybe someday if you got cancer I think you would shrug it off thinking cancer is nothing but cancer would kill you!! Think twice before insulting somebody like that.

Government Help

There are other forms of Government help other than SSI, etc. Did you know that often the Government pays half of a deaf person's salary, just to see the person go to work? 'Kind of like Affirmitive Action.

I'm not quite understanding what you mean. Could you explain clear with me please? thanks!

This suggestion have nothing to do with medical assistance. People with severe cancer can't work, so what is good having gov't assist with salary, eh?
The issue here is about the financial support for the cancer treatment, not employment treatment.
