Spokane NAACP President; white or black?

She comes across tome to actually truly believe what she says, that she is black, and sees herself as black
i.really doubt she is the only human being thst has this whst ever it willbe called
If she is the only one, then damn
Thats one unique person.we have here..

simple - be honest and stop quibbling around.

Honesty is the best policy....and no matter how "she feels"....it's a fact and reality she is a white person. She also stated her "father was a black man"....when she knew that was a Lie....actually, she's been lieing for a long time....
If, and that's a big "if" she would have been honest...an d admitted she was white, but wanted to help the Black Cause....??... Feel sure the NAACP would have let her...but why lie about everything?....

I imagine her white parents are really perplexed about this, even hurt....Her credibility is ruined so is her integrity....

My hubby is 20% white...can he call himself white? lol

I think maybe, attitudinally, one can call themselves whatever but be aware of the legalities surrounding the issue......

<long>
I saw a bit of an interview of her in the news....my thought is - sometimes people can be very light-skinned and appear "white" or very "mixed" when they actually DO have some or a lot of African-American heritage somewhere <and the parents may have hid it, or really didn't know anything about the their own ancestors background>.....so...this may account for some her features and her sense of how she feels about herself....but it seems also she is...wishing for something, missing something....in the small part of the interview I saw, she only talked about how -she- feels and how she -feels - "black" and it seems like, self-centered and -not genuine. The two things that really bother me about it are - there is a feel of not so much outright dishonesty, but - not disconnect from herself all around, which then seems to lead into my next concern, which is - given that alleged photo of herself as a young child in which she appears VERY "white" the way race is perceived in the U.S. - she has been able to "pass" - which means she has privilege. She has white privilege. Which she didn't acknowledge in the interview. And white privilege is so critical to be aware of when you're talking about racism - and for sure when you're leading an organization designed to empower people and combat the effects of privilege in a society based on a social construct or race - how can she lead the NAACP?

So I agree with her stepping away and I think someone who has experienced what it means - culturally, socially in the U.S. - to be perceived as African-American - to be treated most often as black in a country based on racial disparities - should be leading the NAACP.

Agree....and feel the NAACP feels the same way....

This made international news.i saw her interviewed it possible she mix race.she certainly made herself look like she is...pretty girl..Is she good at the job do people like her do it matter....to me native Americans should be offered jobs before anyone else it would save arguments. The

:ty:RR

:wave:caz, see what you're saying about Native people, but in this specific case the organization in the news is relating to African-American or black people.
But - yes, I get the heart - spirit- of what I think you mean, caz...

Yeah but this White woman was pretending to be Black , and if she lies about her race I have to wonder what else she will lie about.
Alright, so that means a NAACP President must be black, even though many white people support NAACP? I guess I am behind the news. The key is what's their policy of running for it? Does it say white people or people from different races can't run for it?

I actually believe she truly and honestly sees herself as a black person

just like plently of mentally ill people see all sorts of things, in honesty and truth, and believe it.
I know men who believe themseves to be women,

Now having thought about it, i have met a whiter then casper buddhist, who truky felt and saw himself as an asian, but it didnt mwke international.news though. Wonder what haoowned to.him?, anywa...i dont think this girk is the only humqn bieng living who sees themsekves as a different race then whats on the birth cert. If she is. Well shes the definition of unique isnt she?
Hell

Why not over 50%

Anyway he can see himself as whiye if thats what he wants.shouldnt matter

no no. it's fine that she feels "culturally-black" but she should not quibble around about it.

just say it.... she's white and she ain't no black. she's causing more harm than good with what she's doing.

it seems like she's in some playing around with things and has used the NAACP position as a way to "explore" or validate herself and try to figure who she is, which seems irresponsible....

I'm not keeping up with the news on this. Did she start "feeling black" around the time her parents adopted her brothers? If so, maybe she felt they were getting more attention from her parents & others and was jealous do she decided she wanted to be like them. Just a thought.

Been seeing a lot of comments and "cartoons" about her....some Blacks are actually laughing about her...

Whats to laugh at?
If we as a society will accept racial measurment of blood purity as a legit way, of viewing individuals,
If we do that.
I think history has shown the blacks to.be the reciever of the worse end to that bargain.

I'm very white skinned...and if I "all of a sudden started feeling like I was Black" and went around telling everyone I was Black...feel sure somebody would Baker Act me....:giggle:

It wasnt all the sudden with this.girl, shes kived seeing herself as black, amongts blacks, doing work for blacks as a blach person going to a black univeesity...so on.
You need to ask yourself Why how this girl sees herswkf matters to you?

Knew this would be the response from you....no sense in beating a dead horse over it, Hoichi....and how "she sees and feels herself" isn't reality and not factual. That's the point. She got caught up in her web of lies...gotta draw the line somewhere and say...."I'm white but I'd rather be black".....a lot of people would rather be somebody else too.

Well as long we are faiR and use the above measure not just for race but for gender wnd sex and you name it,
why not?
But
Society wont do that will it?

How one sees themselves can be even more "reality" then how others see them. Thus is one difficulty in mental illness.
anorexia as an example.
You have 90 lb women seeing themsekves as 350 lb women.reality is what?
Is her seeing herslef a black person any more a lie then an anorexic seeing a fat person? Or jenner seeing a women when he looks in the mirror? He grew up male, nevee experienced the hardship of growing up a women. Never has mwnstrueted, never has went through all the things women do, so on,
Food for thought.
