NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Jerry Reed, a singer who became a good ol’ boy actor in car chase movies like “Smokey and the Bandit,” has died of complications from emphysema at 71.

His longtime booking agent, Carrie Moore-Reed, no relation to the star, said Reed died early Monday.

“He’s one of the greatest entertainers in the world. That’s the way I feel about him,” Moore-Reed said.

He was one of my favourite actor/singer.

I love Smokey and the Bandit show! Hilarious!

He was a good actor.

The best guitar player this world has seen for many a year. He will be missed. Natural talent like his is rare.

Yes, I heard about him. I love Smokey and Bandit movie. It make me laugh. I will miss him :(

If it wasn't for Snowman, the Bandit wouldn't have been able to pull the stunts he did. After the first movie of such, Bandit's character only got worse, as did Frog's. Snowman was the only reason I watched Smokey and the Bandit.
