Shot By Cop

Right, you bring a gun because it's a way to threaten people's lives. If there was no threat then why would people hand over their stuff? You have to take them seriously.

right. but lot of robbers do not bring weapons so that they can get out of jail in short time if caught. armed robbery? that's felony and a long time in jail.

When you are backing off what it to stop the suspect from shooting you?

"Of the 54 officers slain with firearms in 2004, 31 were wearing body armor. In four cases, bullets penetrated though the vest, and a fifth died of a nonpenetrating blunt force trauma to the chest.6 Even when the round is stopped, an officer can suffer an injury under the vest. "

why would he shoot if he's got a gun pointed at him too? you back off while pointing a gun at him.

Right because if you bring a gun you to rob people you are showing a certain amount of intent as to how far you are willing to go.

why would he shoot if he's got a gun pointed at him too? you back off while pointing a gun at him.

For the same reason he took the hostage, to escape. Shoot the cop and witnesses and then get out of there. Why else would he point the gun at him but to shoot him?

to make him go away.

just because he had a gun doesn't mean he wanted to shoot.

One of the officers entered the home and encountered Smith holding onto Rebello in a headlock, coming down the stairs, Azzata said. Smith pulled Rebello closer and started moving backward toward a rear door of the house, pointing the gun at her head before eventually threatening the officer, Azzata said.

very obvious that he intended to run away, not shoot.

Depending on what kind of demanding note. If bank robbery threatens bank with weapon and don't display usually end up as armed robbery regardless. EVEN if with toy gun, or even fake bomb.

bank robbery is different. armed or not.... you'll be in jail for a long time regardless.

There is no way to know what his intentions where. It's not far fetched to assume he's going to shoot you if he points a gun at you.

very obvious that he intended to run away, not shoot.

Just because he was moving toward an exit doesn't mean he wasn't going to shoot as well.

that's what everybody says. it's just a threat. he was probably hoping a cop backs off so that he can run away.
How do you or anybody else know that?

The "1,800 FPS question" whether he wanted to shoot or not. How much time other end has to decide once one decide to pull trigger?

my crystal ball. and logic.

his criminal history. him moving toward a rear door. he didn't shoot at a cop and poor girls. he didn't rape them.

Maybe because he expects to be able to get the first shot? :dunno:

Bad guys shoot police for logical and illogical reasons, or no reason at all.

You can't always use logic on the actions of illogical people.

You don't know what he would have done if he had more time.

he wasn't using "assault rifle". he was using a handgun.

*shrug* it fits and it makes sense. you can believe otherwise and that's fine with me. he had plenty of time while a girl ran out to a bank and he did not harm them.

what's not fine with me is a cop's decision to shoot with a hostage in front of him.

nothing fits that picture. you, of course, can believe otherwise.

They didn't know his criminal history. Nothing was stopping him from shooting and leaving and he didn't get a chance to shoot at the cop because the cop killed him.

you're trying very hard to paint him as a violent murderer and you're failing very comically at it.

By pointing a gun at people and taking hostages you are implying that you are willing to kill people. No one there knew anything about his criminal history they could only judge the kind of person he was by his actions. My point again is that there is no way of know what he would have done without just letting him do it. That seems like not such a good idea to me.

again.... better him than a cop killing a girl.
