Shot By Cop

Was that proven by the ballistics investigation and autopsies?

There is always risk when firing a gun. The question is was it negligent risk.
 
Why don't victims, when a cop has a gun on the attacker, just drop. The attacker cant hold the dead weight and focus, therefore giving a cop the clean shot he needs.

Look the cop in the eyes and dart them ( any sign of "hey, get ready to shoot his ass" ) and just drop. With the intruder pointing at the cop, he has not time to turn on her and as he is startled by the sudden drop...BAM, he's out for the count.
Yes, it may cause a fire from the attacker, but cops wear bullet proof vests...there is that chance the cop gets hit in a vital area, but there is also the chance the attacker misses and is taken down by the cop without issue.
I know there is a lot of arguments on this touchy subject, but with a gun in your face, its not a pleasant feeling, trying to keep your cool and reason your next step. if the attacker is escalated there is no reasoning with them. His criminal record shows he didn't care what the outcome was as he continued to be a criminal.

nope. cop's got a bullet vest. he can take a hit and shoot back.

my guess? the intruder shoots at the cop and runs away..... as a dead man on the run cuz all the cops in Nassau County will kill him.

I think most people are to scared to act, plus you're assuming the cop will take the opportunity. No one there knew the mans criminal history.

Cops aren't invincible. Vests do not make them bullet proof and what happens later would not stop him from killing them then.

it doesn't matter if he's a petty criminal or a violent criminal. it doesn't matter if he intended to shoot or not. a cop doesn't know that or anybody's background history. all he saw was an intruder holding a poor girl as a hostage with a gun.

what I just can't understand is a cop's decision to shoot when an intruder was behind a hostage.... I just can't wrap my head around that. it's simply unfathomable.

exactly. my guess? reckless. negligent. unfit for duty.

a vest will save his life. and judging from this criminal's background - he's just a petty street thug... not a violent criminal.

he broke in to rob a house... not to rape and/or murder her.

A vest COULD save his life. And they had no way of knowing what kind of person they where dealing with.
