Actually, the earth is billions of years old but it was only recently inhabited by humans a little over 6,000 years ago. The bible says it was a desolate waste for a long time. Then it talks about 6 creative days but they were not 24 hour days as creationists believe. One creative "day" would run into the next before the first "days'" work was completed. These days lasted around 7,000 years each so a total of 42,000 years from the 1st "day" to the 6th "day". The word day doesn't absolutely have to mean 24 hours. We even use the term day loosely. 'Back in the day', Those were the days, and even the bible says a day to Jehovah is a thousand years and a thousand years as a day. 2 Peter 3:8. This makes more sense than a literal 24 hour day. Romans 1:20 states look at creation around you and the evidence that there is a Creator and is irrefutable and to believe otherwise is inexcusable.
