Computer Disc Found In Iraq Contained Information About U.S. Schools
WASHINGTON -- Sources say eight school districts in six states were warned last month by federal law enforcement agents that a computer disc found in Iraq contained photos, floor plans and other information about their schools.
One official says the data, publicly available on the Internet, included Education Department crisis guidelines for schools.
The eight districts are in Georgia, Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon and California. The officials say FBI agents in those areas alerted local education and police officials.
The government says that the warnings do not mean an attack is being planned.
Still, school officials are being warned to watch for those spying on their buildings or buses.
