just prior to picking up my date for wedding, I passed by a group of people gasping, looking over bridge passageway. At that time, I knew somebody jumped to commit suicide and he landed just a couple streets away from my route :(

NEW YORK — A man jumped from the George Washington Bridge this afternoon, falling 200 feet to his death, officials said.

The man apparently walked up to the southern sidewalk of the bridge and leaped around 1:18 p.m., falling to Riverside Drive in Manhattan, according to Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman. He was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead 30 minutes later, Coleman said.

The man was not carrying any identification, so the Port Authority was unable to release his name. No one on the ground was injured during the incident.

how awful,somewhere there next of kin about to have life changing news,my heart bleed for them
 
How very tragic and sad... :( I'm sorry you had to (kind of) witness that Jiro. My thoughts and prayers go out to that man and his family. So sad that he felt that was his only option.
 
wow, ppl usually jump off bridge and drown.. anyway, terrible tragedy...it will never end. we're all used to it..nothing surprise us anymore these days.
