Reusable Grocery Bags May Poison You

I prefer plastic bags because of easier to grab more bags or use for trash.

If you have tons of paper bags then it could cause problem with cockroaches, I remember about back in early 90's and we had alot of paper bags from grocery store and I noticed more cockroaches are occurred but much less today because almost rest of stores use plastic bags.

I can grab as much as 10 full plastic bag of groceries at same time, from car to home.

Well. I can use both plastic and paper. The brown paper bag is for newspapers and papers for recycles. I use the extra plastic bag for small bin in bathroom and swipe my dog's shit! LoL

I bring water filtered at home. I use a nice stainless cup.

BTW, why worry about shopping bags when we, as deaf people, rely on our cell phones or pagers so much?? What is dirtier - your cell phone or a toilet seat? Here is a link to an ABC News story that came out not long ago.

What's Dirtier, Cell Phone or Toilet Seat? - ABC News

I remember being young and drinking out of the hose. Ha. Still here! At least in those days we built up a natural immunity. No telling what else was building up!
My grandma said that sunshine and soap and water was good for everything. She would drag mattresses out to kill germs. Who knows??? At least they smelled really good after being in the sun all day.

There's interesting to say about plastic is from oil and natural gas since paper is from tree.

If we use more plastic and less paper then would save tree and allow tree to absorb the CO2, if you cut more tree to produce the paper then would less aborb and leading to smoggy issue.

Tree is renewable but it take very long time to fully sized of tree but oil isn't because of fuel fossil and never grow again after burn it.

This is what I was always taught about using my white cane as well. This is due to the fact that the cane tip may have been exposed to a variety of bacteria that are unknown to the person using it. Whenever I have something in my hand, I place it inside my purse or backpack (if it's small like a wallet) or on the floor (if it's large like my cane). I tend to be very anal when it comes to things like that given how obsessive my late mother was about cleanliness.

Only Imagine what is on the bottom of your shoes when you walk in your house!

That's why I never wear shoes in my home. :cool2:

I keep rugs in front of the door entrance as well as the couch, loveseat and recliner. Every week I wash all of the rugs so that I don't have to worry about my guests staining the carpeting in my apartment.

I have all hardwood or tiles in my home. I do not like carpet due to it does harbor allergens, and other health issue critters.

I mop my floors at least twice a week if not more.

I also do not like asking my guest to take off their shoes. And my dogs when they come in from outside.

I love not having carpet. I do have throw rugs that does get washed occasionally.

The door mat, and other high traffic rugs get washed as needed.

This thread has shift to reusable grocery bags to water bottles. Now I'm lost in the middle of what we are really discussing about.

Anyways, I have a lot of those reusable grocery bags, they're so much easier and better than plastic bags, because plastic bags can rip and also makes groceries more heavier. Since reusable bags may be poison, I will wash them before using them again. Thanks for the heads up. ;)

I have year round allergies and live in Section 8 housing, so I do not have a choice as to whether or not I have carpeting in my apartment.

Did you know that tap water contains random chemicals and is artificially treated?
That's why people may use the tap filter, to counter it.

In a chemistry laboratory experiment, I was doing testing on random liquids to see how conductive they were.. This picture should give you an idea of what I was doing:

Electrolyte.JPEG

The light bulb is only supposed to light up if there is a concentration of ions in the solution, meaning that the chemicals have an electric charge in it.
I put it into a glass of salt water, it lit up very strong.
I put it into a glass of sugar water (soda), it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of vinegar, it lit up.
I put it into a glass of pure deionized water, it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of 2% alcohol (booze), it didn't light up.
I put it into a glass of everyday tap water, the light bulb LIT up very dim.

I was surprised.

It is said that generally the chemical contents of tap water in the USA is safe enough to drink by LAW, but I still would not attempt it.. knowing what is inside.
I'm not sure if filters work because I didn't test filtered water.
But anyways, this is why some people may prefer to drink bottled water, because it's been "stated" to be distilled so that it doesn't contain tap water chemicals, theoretically it should not light up if you put the test into bottled water unless the company was lying or you have some treated water in it.

You will never know if the bottled water has conductive electrolytes or not unless you do the testing yourself, it's really the personal choice for anyone to make themselves.

If you want to be truly green by the usage of water, then look for a chance to live next to a river, lake or spring and do all the filtration yourself. That way you don't have to worry about government regulations in tap water, and you don't have to worry about littering bottled water.

Even well water... Has a certain amount of *icky* things in it.

Just as the city water. City water and most other water that is treated VIA filter, or chemicals. To make it safe to consume.

Just about every water I tested in the past contained a certain amount of feces.

Gross, eh?

But we have to drink water to survive!

We have to eat to survive!

If one really want to get down and test for bacteria. I am sure that the refridgerator and kitchen has a higher amount of bacteria than a toilet does.

So stay green with the "Green Bags"

Yes, me too.

It´s quick and easy to clean marble, tiles and laminate wood floors.

You can see the 36 pictures of Plastic Bag - animals ate plastic because they thought they are food... :(

That is sad. But how can we do anything? Except not use plastic?

The problem isn't plastic really, the ultimate problem is humans. This leads to mainly the problem of Evolution and natural selection from Darwin's theories.

With everything available to humans today, we are at the top of the food chain with our machines, weapons, technologies.

As a result animals are not evolving as much as they have been in the past to become #1. They are probably more likely trying to evolve to survive the problem of ocean waste and less habitat homes. Turtles are probably breeding new offspring that knows not to eat or avoid the soda 6-pack plastic material. It will take time, but eventually they will learn to avoid the six pack rings in the ocean.

In a sense, humans are affecting animal development ever since ~1000+ B.C. and jumped a lot more since the past few centuries.

The only real way for animals to have their true nature one more time is to "kill" off the humans so they cannot control everything anymore.
Right now we aren't really doing anything bad, but as a problem of our technology and attitude animals will never have the freedom they used to.

See, everything is a double-edged sword for what we do and how it can affect mother nature. The truth is, we have most likely won the race to be #1 on planet Earth. The animals lost a long time ago. They will always remain #2 until sometime humans all die or we nuke ourselves to death. You and I and everyone else with a brain, knows no matter how much we try to conserve and save earth.. there will always be those who don't care about it. Always.

It's your choice, not us if we need plastic bags.

Cloth bags wouldn't work for frequently shopping.

Not all of pictures are fact, plastic use so very small amount of oil, it took about no more than 12 million of barrels to make plastic bags every years, also natural gas is used to make plastic too.

We import about 15-20 million of barrels everyday, go figure out and most of oil are goes to fuel for vehicles.

I prefer carpet for bedroom and some rooms, except in kitchen and bathroom.

Carpet is very common in America for houses and apartments.

Yeah, I notice that carpet is very common in America but it is also in UK, too.

Marble, wood and tiles floor are very common here in Germany.

How? I use frequently since 1980s.

I means if you plan to go to 10 stores to shopping in one day and it won't work for cloth bags.

I don't want cloth bags and I don't believe that government should regulate it, it's should be totally up to consumers.
