I guess I don't understand why adults are arguing about the Sunday school version of Thanksgiving. As adults we know the difference. This is what generally happens when you reach the age of enlightenment.
If people would rather teach children the truth, that differences in people cause fear which can lead to death, that is totally OK. But, I wonder if it would do more harm than good to the children and if that is the society we wish to build, again. After all, those things didn't seem to work out very well by the video's own admission. Right?
Missing from the story, is that the native people from both North and South America were at war with each other respectively and formed alliances with the settlers.

Also, missing from the video is that slaves of some cultures were sold among themselves by their own people and to Europeans as well.

Especially missing from the story is the child and prisoner sacrifices offered to the gods of some native cultures which was frowned upon by settlers.

So, if you want to children to know the truth then perhaps it should be the whole truth, slavery and genocide is not native to Europeans any more than murder, rape and child abuse.
Does anyone actually think that the native America's was some Disneyland free from the problems of all societies? Does anyone actually think there were not wars there?
So again, I would argue that it is important that we teach our children NOT to repeat the past and show them that people do get along. Because the problem of arguing right and wrong, after the fact, is that nobody is without fault. And, that makes it kind of problematic.
