Excellent thread, FeistyChick! :applause: I am glad you thought to post this.

I also have this in my favorites. This isn't something to take lightly, especially when our children's safety is in our hands. I worry constantly about people who live in my area, and I always make sure that I know my neighbors, and that they are good, honorable people...if I'm not sure about someone, I'll always ask. ;)

yea.. i just found out that there is a sex offender not too far from here.. i was like WHAT!?!? no way in hell!?!? :jaw: cuz it is a veryyyyy quiet and safe area.. and they are like.. yea.. but it doesn't mean there are no robberies or sex offenders in that area!!! bleh! i am like OMFG!!! :-o so then a friend from out of state sent me this link!! I was like WOW!!! i am gonna send this link to as many people as i can think of on my mailing list!!! :dizzy: sheesh!!!

SO KEEP YOUR KIDS SAFE!!! YOU NEVER KNOW!!! too many crazies out there! sheesh!!!

Yup...met a few of those crazies, myself...

Therefore, I am sure my daughter thinks I'm paranoid when I forbid her from staying out unsupervised, et cetera. Hell, I even have a problem with her looking pretty, putting on SKIRTS... *sighs* I have told her though, that there is such a thing as inapproporate touching, and that she is to come straight to us if she sees or experiences something that makes her uncomfortable.

I also plan to point out any and all houses that are in my area that have sex offenders living within...can't be too careful.

yea my daughters mom and i had some talkings about sex offenders around our homes by using other link to find where and who they are. we have to be alert whenever we have my daugther. it is not funny. i feel sick when i hear more kids news like several kids were kidnapped in florida. i wish someone wud cut their wiggling sticks off before they done to the innocent and precious kids again!

OMFG!!!!!!! There's 68 sex offenders in my hometown!!!!!!! That's it when my little girl is born I am not letting strangers touch my sweetie they can bite my ass!!!! I don't want to take any chances!!!! Thanks for the link of the website!!! All the sex offenders need to have their little sticks CUT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sex Offender lists are very useful and important. Definitely check them. I just want to remind you that not all sex offenders and pedophiles are listed. Some perverts have not yet been caught, prosecuted, or convicted. Therefore, their names are not yet on the lists. Also, some offenders do not register their moves. Sigh...it is so hard to stay safe these days. :(

Oh my gosh, he lives next door from me. Shit... I am going to print this out and show it to the landlord.

I agree with Reba.

Also check your state’s own sexual offender site - they may have more that was recently updated.

On the local news last week, there were some parents and people in a suburban Atlanta neighborhood protesting about one living next door and they wanted him to move away. That sexual offender is a registered in Florida’s database, I believe still waiting for court hearing in Florida on statutory rape involving teen-aged girls. The relative of his caught on the news said that her nephew is deaf and won’t bother children.

Let’s not forget it is parents/guardians’ responsibilities to keep children safe and pay more attention to people around your children. Doesn’t matter if you have known them for years ago.

Holy Cow!

I have 55 sex offenders in my hometown.. (Most of those guys are the ages of 20's to 40's  )I too save it in my favorites. I also send the link to my family too through email. Thanks for bringing it up to our attention Fiestychick.

42 in my area?.... :jaw: ...I had no idea.... :ugh:

I'll be sure my boys are not outside ALONE, Thanks for this girl!

Its shocking how many sex offenders I have living in my area....its about 50 of them within a 10 to 15 mile radius of my house. On a personal note, I still feel weird that I've investigated some of these people myself....and others on the list have already done their jail time and are back out on the streets and I see/deal with them regularly. Just last night I bumped into one of them at our local Wawa store...and I see him there about once a week.

I go through the same thing when my nieces come to visit. Her mother has sent her here wearing short skirts and one time she had this high leather boots with a mini skirt.....Nope...Not in my house LOL. I feel like I'm getting old....I had her change into something a little more appropriate for a 7 year old. I also try to make it a point to NOT to tell people how to raise their children and sis was a little offended that I was lecturing her.

I told her..."Do you remember a few weeks ago when we went to Denny's and there was that dishwasher....." She said she remembered.....so I then showed her his picture on the sex offender list.
She hasn't said anything more about my 'lecture' and my nieces now arrive in proper attire.

wow, good thread to help the parents to protect their children.

It sounds scary for the parents.

wow, good thread!

I wish to find out about my town. Unfortunlately, the link you add is for USA only.

I wish Europe is in the list that I can look how many sex offenders in town where I live.

I know every people in villiage where I live because it's small villiage which it's 4 km (3 miles) away from town. I had the feeling that villiage where I live has no sex offenders. :dunno: (Perhaps they were sex offenders in the past??? :dunno:)

Perhap small town...but I want to know how many???????????

I remember that we only had sex scandal in the newspapers in town where I live only twice in 20 years.

There was a guy who is in trial, I am not sure if it was finish I believe it was... Anyhow, He was guilty for murdering young man who was missing, turn out it was the guy who got out of jail for raping, He didn't report his old town and new town that he moved..

Sad!

FYI: That link doesn't help much. The link sucks, totally. I checked at least three zip codes near my area and especially my zip code and each one of the results was a zero. Something is totally wrong with that data search link. Because one of my former friends' father was arrested in February 2000 for illegal sexual activity with an underage teen girl (my former friend's ex- girlfriend). His record isn't in that zip code record nor his full name and last name.

Yeah. Checking your state's sex offender registry is highly recommended, because they are usually updated than of those so-called third-party websites like PublicData.

Just a thought...

Have you guys ever considered this?

Maybe a majority of these "sexual offenders" have made a mistake and now are paying for it. They have done their time, in jail and such. But because of this registry, they cannot get a good job, they cannot live in peace.

People swear at them. People try to get them out of houses. People try to get them fired.

Is it any wonder some of them don't report their moves?

Yes, people like you, who don't think about the other side of story. Hear me out, now.

Now, *some* of these people do deserve to be on this registry. Ones that are repeat offenders or violent sexual offenders. But what about one time thing?

I knew a guy who was put on a registry SIMPLY because he had been 21, had sex with a girl who had used FAKE ID and told him she was 18 (and she looked it, too), but in reality was 16. SHE got him in jail.

You think it's fair that HE can't keep a good job, can't have nice peaceful life like us all? He's now in his 40's, and still gets yelled at by people for being a sexual offender. ALL because of a snotty little girl who can't be honest about her age. ALL because of a stupid little law about statutory rape.

That court didn't even take in account the fact she used fake id, lied about her age.

I'm just giving a little example of how people can end up on a sexual offender registry and not honestly deserve it. Many of these people are honestly trying to make a good life for themselves in spite of the meanness they face.

Just like we honestly don't deserve being called "Dumb and Deaf".

I hope this post has made you stop and think.

Not everything looks the way it appears on the surface. Look beyond the surface.
