Prayers

Christianity is a religion. Christianity has a set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader, Jesus Christ. When one use the word, religious... they are talking about you and the other Christians, not Jesus, Mary or God. Followers of Jesus Christ are religious, not Jesus Christ himself. It's not the same thing.

I prefer to be called "Jesus Freak". Plain and simple.

Netrox, so you won't let people you disagree with live the kind of life they chose because it is what makes them happy, content, etc without resorting to the kind of commentary that you do? I know I, at one time or another, am guilty of the same thing at times but I am determined, at least for today, to bend over backwards........

I have no idea what you're talking about. I am not saying they can't disagree with me - I am telling them they're wrong and ignorant. Not once will you see that they will admit they're wrong. It's always "No, God is never wrong therefore the bible is never wrong blah blah blah" They just don't know - they are so set with the preconception that the Bible is the truth and the answer to all their problems.

You cannot just let ignorance rule the world.

Netrox, you don't know what I am talking about, you say? I was talking about the insulting tone you post in. It seems like your'e eating a little more gunpowder than usual cuz I have seen this in you in another topic, trying to belittle Nancy, for example. So that's what I''m talking about. I'm done here, folks.

If someone tells you that you are "wrong and ignorant", how do you react?

Not once will you see that they will admit they're wrong.
Why should someone "admit they're wrong", if they are right?

...the Bible is the truth and the answer to all their problems.
It is sad that you have not yet discovered that truth.

You cannot just let ignorance rule the world.
That is why Jesus commanded His believers to spread His Word throughout the world; He doesn't want people to be ignorant of His Gospel.

It is interesting to notice that "Christian" was mentioned in the Bible thrice:

Acts 11:26
And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called christians first in Antioch.

Acts 26:28
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a christian.

1 Peter 4:16
Yet if any man suffer as a christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

If I am called ignorant, then I'd like to know but I clearly know what I am saying.

Why should someone "admit they're wrong", if they are right?

I've admitted a few times that I was wrong once I learned the facts and evidence that's contrary to what I learned. For example, I was wrong to believe that the Bible is the Word of God. I was extremely ignorant.

It is sad that you have not yet discovered that truth.

Truth is what I seek for and the Bible gives no absolute truth. I adopt some Judeo-Christian values but the problem is people fail to realize that the truths presented in the Bible changed from Old Testament to New Testament and the churches weld enormous influence in shaping people to interpret their ways.

That is why Jesus commanded His believers to spread His Word throughout the world; He doesn't want people to be ignorant of His Gospel.

That's not what I was saying.

Truth? I did not think that you have it because you did NOT answer my question: What errors does the Bible contain? Please prove me. If you are incapable to answer this question, this means VERY OBVIOUSLY that you have NO absolute truth. If you want the truth, PLEASE answer my question. Prove me!

The hands that help are far better than the lips that pray.
They are not mutually exclusive.

Hands that help while the lips pray are a powerful combination.

I thought the subject was about the prayers?

What about other people's faith alike Judasm, muslims, hindu, etc? Do their prayers help them.

Gotcha. I understand what you mean. I also didn't share my spiritual experience with the public too because of "devil" comments like what you said in your post. Apparently that it is much easier for me to shut up than speaking up in the public and deal with close-mindedness. I am not implying that AD'ers are close-minded people and all, I never say that. Just implying that I noticed that some of christians would say that to me whenever I bring up about it.

I want to discuss a bit more about this:

Shaman could not do this because they are not God. They have to ask first before they can do the healings.

According to my knowledge that they (shamans) never claim that they are 'God'. But I am not sure if they do or do not ask before they can do the healing. I don't know how much you know about Native American culture but most of these tribes tend to kneel and give their thanks to Creator (God) whenever they slay the animals for survival reasons. There is much more about these Native American and their wonderful spirituality belief. I am glad that you decide to share your view with us :thumb:

I agree, prehap this is one reason why so many people rebel against religion because of something they experience and clash with other people's beliefs. Truly sad and so many people seek the answers somewhere else.

I have always interest in archelogy and took few course. I loved it and wish I have more time and money to go with them to dig in South America. I am still learning about each culture. I am not going to discuss it here. Prehap other time. Shaman is not only to American Native people but in many other culture. I loved this book called "Down under there" it is about a tribe and a woman who went on a journey across the desert in Austrialia. Wonderful to read.

I gave one example : The Bible says that insects have four legs. They don't.

How come you don't answer to Askjo's question ? His question was : What errors does the Bible contain?

If, you think that you have all the answers just like the way you act, then why don't you give him some answers, hmm ? Cat caught your tongue, eh ?

Agreed, but I am not putting forth a dichotomy. The phrase merely demonstrates the superiority of action over prayer, when directly comparing both.

Next!

No, your phrase does not demonstrate superiority of action over prayer; it merely demonstrates your opinion about prayer.

Two can play this game of condescension

Is that your opinion as well?
Thank you for playing the relativist card! :laugh2:
A wickedly double-edged sword, is it not?

All other reiligion that don't worship Jesus Christ and walk with him are hardly to get answered from God. Jesus said, I am the way of the truth and for the living. Jesus Christ is a only way to pray and worship to get our salvation (to be his children and slave of righteous).

Lips or hands don't matter while you are praying. It is all about your heart and mind with Jesus Christ. If it is only lip and the deaf people cant talk with Jesus? It is all about heart and mind. Do you remember the one verse said put whole your mind and heart on Jesus Christ and you will walk with him.
