If it is in direct contact with the eyes, open sores, open wounds and so on. Blood-borne diseases don't live for long after they have been exposed to air... think "less than a second."
I am not even sure if I should laugh.... or be grossed out by the McDonald's thing.
That is not always true. HCV can live a while outside the body for quite some time.
