Piracy....

I have never bought pirated products but I have pirated mp3s and such for my own personal use. I dont copy it to share with my friends or sell it to make money - because THAT would definitely get me in a lawsuit I cant win.

I have a couple of Darren Hayes songs on my mp3 player that I got off of myspace profiles, but thats as far as I would go with the mp3s.

I would however purchase music legally from iTunes or from wal-mart.com, and I plan to in the near future onc I get myself a music card from wal-mart that will allow me to download from the sites since I have no credit card or a paypal account. (I have no real use for neither at the moment).

They do get taxed, but they get tax deductions by donating to charities.

Yes, you're right about the movies and books being leaked onto the internet. In fact, there's already a digital copy (DVD screener) of 'The Simpsons Movie' floating around on the internet a week after the worldwide release. Just to show you how easy it is to pirate movies, music and softwares.

A DVD screener is what they use to send out to the critics, theatre owners, video retailers before they release it into the theatres or on home video. In many cases, a DVD screener will contain a watermark that appears a few times through the movie. Usually it appears in the corner or sometimes they will turn the video into black and white from colour for a few seconds at a time but not too often.

Not only to mention that there are many, many people within the film industry who will make an illegal copy of a movie and then upload it onto the internet.

I know that they get taxed, I just don't think they get taxed heavily enough. I guess there is a DVDSCR out... damn, and I just finished the Pukka version the other night. I read now where television executives are actually uploading new Tv shows onto the filesharing networks to spike interest.

We're just trying to get out of poverty.

Rich people ripped us off all the time.

The movie prices are too high... paying $50 for Times Warner, Directv or other stuff for 20 channels, I deleted PPV channel and sport channel...

I am so sick of self righteous people who are such law abiding folks,
these laws are made by RICH PEOPLE so we can stay POOR
all of our life....

And it isn't fair. We can't own a casino, only rich men can.

We can only work minimum wage, $6 a hour...

That is sad.

Anyway, screw it.

Haha, are u crazy? U cant delete PPV channels, u only can delete movies channels and sports channels...

I think we should all just shoplift movies from Wal-Mart. That will put an end to Internet piracy.

Then in Amazon.com and Ebay

You can buy used or almost new or new
Movie DVD or music CD
from someone unknown sellers.

And you don't know if that sellers are piracying

And also.....

Sellers buy all of the books from College bookstores,
knowing students will buy online Amazon.com...

and Students desperately need books, but sellers sell college books
twice as much.

How about that?

Uh... I really don't think that sellers buy the books from college bookstores and post on amazon... Amazon tends to be cheaper then bookstores.

Yes I can... I get tired of flipping all of the channels, so I delete about
900 of PPV, sports channel, hispanic channels...

And the only channels I left on there are local channels, Lifetime, MTV, BET, Animal Channel, CNN, and others.

When I was at CSUN...

I went to the college bookstore, all the books, I needed, were gone.
So I went on Amazon.com... and I tried to buy new books, but
none.
I saw USED... so I clicked on that... and saw the cheapest one...
but then the SHIPPING fees were HIGH. I was like, damn. It doesn't
cost $30 to ship a book.
:pissed:

I don't know, never bought anything online... never needed to. Anyways there are other places then Amazon to buy books. Something that just struck me too was that maybe the reason the books were gone was that other students needed them...

Really it is legal to copy Movies... just like recording movie from tv to VCR.

Plus can pay $5 on PPV and copy movie on VCR tape.

And can buy DVD from walmart and share DVD to many friends.

The police officers told me it is okay to copy off and rip movies,
just as long I don't sell it.

So we ain't doing anything illegal.

So it okay to download movies and music from website...

And it okay to download movies and music in email.

JUST DON'T SELL IT.

Banjo, I relize you live in Canada but for everyone in the States, the evils that be (MPAA and RIAA (Did you here about the one where the RIAA sued a dead guy's family because no ruling was made while he was alive??)) its 'illegal'(by that I mean you won't go to jail (Unless you're a cammer or leak a pre-air movie/Tv show/CD) but you could be sued) here in the states. (I think I used to many perenthesis :giggle:)

I want to show a link for everybody that
I have seen about one of their family who dead, that is she did with illegal
download for music:
Deceased Grandmother sued by RIAA
I knew, she didn't do it. I glad she was not paying fine anymore, but
I feel sorry for their families get sued by stupid RIAA.

I never heard of musicians not being able to sell their stuff on E-Bay... thats pretty dumb.. I can't believe the Canadian goverment is letting the CIAA tax blank CD's... What about all the people who (hypotheticly) are using the CD's for legitimate purposes (IE, backing up files such as tax documents...)?

How do you know about Ebay has been prohibited from musicians from selling their
stuff on Ebay?
It sounds like bull**** to me. I hope Ebay doesn't do next for prohibit from
selling classic video game from everybody who is selling on Ebay. :Ohno:

I was actually commenting to Banjo about artists not being able to sell music on Ebay. Previously I hadn't known about it.

And when I made the comment refering to the RIAA suing people, that wasn't even the one I had in mind, although it defianitly works.

Please close my thread as they went off the topic. sigh..
