I'M GOING!

I saw this in the Insight Cinema Listings, sounds really cool and I would love to go. My hometown (Unadilla, NY) still has an active Drive In and I remember going to it as a kid. It's a different experience than seeing a movie in a theater.

Unfortunately, Minetto is about 4 hours away, a bit too far to go for a movie. (Also the part of getting home at 5am doesn't appeal) Hope they have a good turnout! The OC movies around here always get < 5 people, often more like 2 or none. One theater chain (Lowes) already scrapped OC for poor attendance, hope this other one (Regal) doesn't too.

Some of you could carpool and spend the night at a hotel during the night of Saturday-Sunday. If you do that, it would only cost each of you a few bucks if you can get 5 to 10 people in one hotel room. Heh! :)

:bump:

This is just another reminder. It's this weekend and coming up fast! Enjoy!

If any of you went, thanks for going.

If you didn't go, wish you did.

We'll find out if we do it again next year. :thumb:

:( I read an article in the paper about this. It was featured in Friday's paper, and I read it on MONDAY. Maybe next year.

Wow, very cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
still has an active Drive In and I remember going to it as a kid.
As a little kid I lived in a neighborhood that had a giant drive in movie theatre. I can vividly remember sitting on the lawn and watching the movies...wow, this was over twenty years ago....man I feel OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a bit of some interesting facts related to drive-in theaters...
  • many years ago, there were over 4,000 drive-in theaters
  • today, there are about 400 drive-in theaters remaining
  • most of the money earned in drive-in theaters through ticket sales go to the company that produced the movie
  • most of the money earned to keep the drive-in theaters alive are done through food sales

Is this a new news?

I've seen captioning or more preferably Subtitles on drive-ins.

Especially the one on Overland Trail in Fort Colllins, and Santa Fe & Hampden in Denver.

And this was not recent. It was last year or something.

My memories of drive-in movies are marijuana smells reeking in the air and vans bouncing on the parking stalls.

My favorite drive-in "Highway 39 Drive In" was demolished and a Walmart superstore was built in it's place.
