one-hand fingerspelling

British, New Zealander, and Australian ADers,

I wonder about one-hand ABC fingerspelling in BSL or Auslan. If someone lost or disable hand or arm, you should use one-hand fingerspellings. Can you follow to use American one-hand fingerspellings? :roll:

Yeah, I wondered before as why those people, who uses BSL & Auslan, use both hands to fingerspell. Quite weird. lol

We ASL'ers each just need a single hand to fingerspell, much easier.

You sure made a good point as what if one loses a hand... how?

I remembered years ago at deaf school in New Zealand. One deaf student had a broken arm and it was covered with cast.

That person had to use one-handed finger spelling for a while until the cast comes off then back to two-hands finger spelling.

i m meaning that he/she used ASL's one-hand fingerspelling. Right? All students know it?

Yes that person did used ASL one hand finger spelling. Yes, we all did learned a bit of ASL one handed spelling in high school. So most students do know it and some don't know it.
 
Interesting! Almost Australian deafies should learn ASL one-hand fingerspelling if necessary. Thank you, SG
 
Dbarovian, i have a friend in my hometown who is fluent in ASL, when she and I communicate, we use in ASL, just for the sake of it! :laugh2:
 
I will see him/her to use ASL on VP or at your hometown. :lol:
 
:( I have one friend has fingers cut half each and thumb cut on her left hand. She can fingerspelling. But other her right hand don't have a fingernails. She got bad car accident and fire cause burn her legs cut off, fingers and hands and chest. Her mom died when she was 2 or 3 years old. It's so sad! I had a heartbroken. She can sign very well and can fingerspelling on her left hand. She always being sweet and friendly.

That is sad. A bad accident could happen to any of us.:aw:
