And... it was faster too.Just imagine . . . 20 years ago people somehow managed to drive from point A to point B without texting or calling someone.

Since I'll be driving soon (I'm going to start my driving classes next month which is febuary)
This law (no texting bans to deaf drivers), Does that mean that this ban will apply to Every state and every town in the united states???
The law in 6 states (Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, and Pennsylvania) specifically authorizes a locality to ban cellphone use. Localities in other states may not need specific statutory authority to ban cellphones.
--I live in ohio. But what do they mean specifically "authorizes a locality to ban cellphone use"??
The state does not want to make it a state-wide law but allows LOCAL towns to enact the ban. This happened in NJ for a while before it became a state law. at that time - my town does not enforce it but the next town does.
Does it make sense now?
Don't forget that we are always welcome to park over to use the text messages. Also hearing people are banned from talking on the phone while driving, too, so how can that be discrimination, anyway?
One woman in the car pulled her car over on my driveway and talking on her cell phone, I told her to get off my driveway, ugh.
it has NOTHING to do with deaf drivers. It's about holding CELL PHONE while driving. The law specifically said you CANNOT hold cell phone to talk while driving. But the drivers think they got clever cuz "technically" they are not using cell phone to talk but text-messaging. That is wrong. Simply put - the law says NO HOLDING CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING - TO TALK OR TXT! but you can use bluetooth to talk because both of your hands are on the wheel and your eyes are on the road at ALL time.kind of. But let me just take a guess here.
you're saying that they could make it become a state law? And they're just trying to figure out wether they should ban the no-texting law against deaf drivers?
Yes the hearing drivers break this law and just talk on cell phone... and so can you. You can break this law and text-messageif you like. but both of you will get $$$$$$ fines if you got caught. But Even though they say we're not allowed to call/talk or text on the phone, hearing people just ingores it and they just go ahead with it while we can't text?? that sucks big time.
Yeah I already know that hearing people shouldn't be talking/calling or texting while driving. It has become a huge habit for them. But they do it anyways. And I think thats not fair.
My mom was picking me and my sister up from piano lessons one time, heading to mcdonalds. So, As We were leaving my piano teacher's neighboorhood, this girl that looked like in her early 20s, was talking on the phone, not paying attention, who almost crashed my mom's front left rear bumper car. But my mom honked and the girl slammed on her brakes and dropped her phone on her car seat. She smiled and waved. Then she backed up a little bit and made her way thru the street.
yes I know it's not fair and yes they do it anyway... that's why they will have $$$$$$$$$$ fines if they got caught. If that didn't work, I wouldn't be surprised if the state decides to pass another STRICT law that will give you DMV points/jail/bigger fines.Yeah I already know that hearing people shouldn't be talking/calling or texting while driving. yea same here. Happened to me twice. both cases - it was stupid young girl yapping away on cell phone driving an extremely large SUV. I mean EXTREMELY LARGE suv!!!! I would have suffered a serious brain damage because it was almost a T-bone accident and my car did not have side airbag. My mom was picking me and my sister up from piano lessons one time, heading to mcdonalds. When you talk on cellphone, you have one hand on the wheel. When you txt-message, you have one hand on the wheel and your eyes are NOT looking at the road. Both cases are dangerous.
Your state has not decided whether or not to pass it to make it a STATE law but they do allow the local towns to have that law.

I guess this law exist for a reason but what if I need texting in case of an emgerency?
Still wont stop me from using a cell phone while I drive so seriously, I've been driving since I was 18 and I never even get into one crash or got a ticket since.

Obviously, if it's a true emergency, you have to use your good judgment.I guess this law exist for a reason but what if I need texting in case of an emgerency?

Sometimes cell phone users don't get into a crash themselves but they cause other drivers to crash. You'll never know how many people had to swerve because you were on the phone. I see it all the time. People are so obliviously chatting on their phones that they don't notice that they cut off someone in traffic.
