Jeremy and I really want to move to SC to have a house but what about having a wedding in Illlinois? We already had some things that we paid for.. should we keep it or fuck the wedding or have them both? I don't know what to do.. sigh!

My family wont help us with everything..

Which one is more important.. a wedding or house in SC? :dunno:

If I was you, I'll put wedding on hold and foucs on house. You can call places that you already paid for to post pone? Or refund?

I am sure other ADers will give you a better advise than I do.

As long you can save your money goal to buy dream house..

that's sound good plans...

if find home in SC.. and get marry there.. its like start over and new life beginning..

wish you the best..

I'm confused. I thought you and Jeremy were already married? Your biography says, "I am married now to Jeremy and expecting our first baby on May 19, 2004!"

Well, check with your wedding plans. There are usually small fees for cancellations and changes. The only thing you have to do is change the location. Unless, you've already gotten all the invitations with the address printed on them or something.

Hmmmm....like them, I rather buy a house then re-marry. It might be a good idea. I hope everything will be okay. Just relax and think about it slowly and figure how much you save and how much each will cost you. It's simple. If I have enough dough, but looking at both prices..let say, if a house is 235,000, and wedding is 20,000 (fancy), but the down payment on the house is 15,000. I would go to the house and then start saving more money on the wedding expenses. I know it's NOT that simple. Some do it pretty okay. Let us know how it goes. Good luck. ;)

i would worry about home first... then after settle down.. then can plan the renewal wedding in new place to start a new life.. new beginnings.. sound great to me.. :D

Good luck on that! :D

When is the wedding? If you have paid a lot for the wedding then stick around and have everyone go to your wedding. Then move to S.C. and get a house including wedding gifts. Just a thought. :dunno:

Do people get wedding gifts when they renew their vows? I've never heard of that.

The vow renewal ceremonies that I have attended were very simple with a light reception (cake and punch) after.

It doesn't seem that it should cost too much. Vow renewals don't require gown, tux, flowers (except a corsage for the wife), etc. That shouldn't prevent buying a house.

OK...If you paid for wedding things...is it possible for you to take it with you to SC? If not, you could just get refund back.

My suggestion is that if you and Jeremy are happy and feel peace to move to SC...Then I would go for it...You two could move to SC then have a wedding there..:dunno:

Are you and Jeremy living together? If you two really want to move to SC..then why not have a simple wedding in Illinois like have it in ur backyard or park or something...very small wedding...not so expensive...or elope wedding? :dunno:

Have you compared the prices to live in SC? Jobs? I hope everything works out for you and Jeremy!

Jeremy and I got married in a court house.. never had a wedding.

So, do you mean you are going to have a church ceremony now? That will be nice. :) Still, that shouldn't cost too much, so you should still have enough money for a house. I don't see any problem.

Yes, except about the gifts. I don't think they get gifts at a renewal ceremony. The emphasis of a renewal is the public vows, not getting stuff. It's different from a wedding.

I was thinking of reception, not the wedding. Sorry about the confusion.

FelixKat, are you having a reception at all?

Yes we are having the wedding and the reception at the same place. its at a manison and we will have a beach theme wedding :)
