And they would see the same things in normal society. What, youths don't see people under stress smoking?

If the movie didn't mimic what happens in society, you would complain that it was too unrealistic.

movies mimic the society and then magnify it 10x which is why it's entertaining! Bigger explosion! More shootings! Hotter girls! More! Bigger! Sexier!

if you want 100% mimic.... I guess British movie is more fitting for you

Of course it's an exaggeration. And that exaggeration exists in the British entertainment industry as well. It is simply more cerebral.

And, you have just solidfied my point.:ty:

Sex and romance is part of life that been done in many centuries. Without it, then it's lifeless. *shurg*

Everything in actions, history, fantasy & sci-fi, etc. are come with sex and romance in many different and interest culture.

yea that's fine but that's not what Jessie's ranting about. What she meant is that she felt the movies/tv shows nowadays "HAD" to include many sex scenes or inappropriate scenes which are not really needed. It's just to boost rating or whatsoever. It's as bad as people using "like" many times in conversation just to say something.

Look at old shows like Saved by the Bell.... Family Matters..... Full House... There were some kinky scenes but not as extensive as today's shows. I surely miss those good old shows.

From what I learn thru history document called "Indie Sex". Really interest in long time ago as early 1900s, there is film that exposure lot of sex scene. Religious protest. So, in about 1940-1960 (maybe early). There is no sex scene but kiss and smoking. Why smoking? It show that they already have sex then they puff. I find is odd but that reason they censor because of religious. Now, it's become open-mind. Something that show very serious drama with sex not dumb scene like porn. For example, the movie called "Hard Candy" which is about pedo but very serious story.

Maybe I think Jessica is try tell us that she don't like dumb sex scene? *shurg*

just not too much and too gaudy/trashy or unneeded. For ie - I actually liked Pearl Harbor but what really killed the experience is that unnecessary love scene. COME ON! Let me enjoy my war movies with actions... not some kissy kiss :cuddle:. Save it for Titanic 2.

I do agree that part scene in Pearl Harbor that mix with certain part that doesn't feel right or even flow right in story.

so yea - that's probably what Jessie's trying to say. I guess whatever she's watching, those unnecessary sex scenes or prolonged/steamy sex scenes killed the fun for her.

Wow. I don't realize this thread got more comments. lol

hey I know how you feel. I feel that "forcing in a romance plot/scene" into most movies ruins the movie experience for me. Like..... Pearl Harbor movie! :barf:
It's like in nearly every movie - there is a smoking scene where main actor/actresses gets stressed, she/he pops one. come on, directors! stick to the story! All of you know i'm a dirty old man but when it comes to movie experience - sex scene does ruin it for me (but I allow it for some movies as it related together).
I am so glad you understood what I mean! :ty: a many...
Yeah... Excatly. I wish directors don't put it too much. How bored...

Ah, yes. Pearl Harbor... I hate when they did to that Praite of Carbbainarn (sorry, I can't spell so well)... I think it would be nice if they put some comdey-romance then it won't bother me. Only one part I really like - it's a bit twisted unexpected scene of Eliza kissed Jack before she left his ship. I think it's kinda of funny and I didn't expect that. :)

Yes, you are right. I'm so tired of it. My opinion - movies or tv shows do not need a requirement the romance issues.
INDEED! I really loved and sorely missed those old tv shows. :(

From #27 to #29...

I definitely agreed. Those parts are not necessary to put in that movie unless good reasons is fine with me, because I will know the couple do care & love each other. NOT too passion kissy craps. e_e

That's why they have Nick at Nite.:giggle:

Directors put into movies what the majority of movie goers want to see. It's called catering to your audience.

why cater it when it didn't exist in the first place? Somebody was bold enough to break the tradition which is fine but somebody was foolish enough to put too much in it. Ever noticed hollywood movies got lamer and lamer?

Do you really want to defend your position by saying that more and more audience want lamer movies?

I'm not taking a position one way or the other. I am simply saying if the public wants it, it will be produced. Evidently, the public wants it, or they would not continue to patronize movies. As long as the public patronizes such movies, the producers will provide them. It's a matter of selling the public what they demand.

You can't cater to something that doesn't exist. Movie producers did not create a demand that wasn't already present. They simply capitalized on it.

Very good example of a movie where a love sub-plot isn't needed. Far too many movies feel the need to stick that in. It's all about the audience they are looking to attract. Broader appeal to audiences = more money to rake in.

And it is hard to avoid the subject of sex sometimes. It seems everywhere. I think that anyone who can be asexual in this day and age, is a brave and strong-willed person. :)

Asexual is not a choice any more than homosexual or heterosexual is a choice.
