Analysts Say As Many As 2 Million People Could Lose Jobs

WASHINGTON -- Economists are expecting more U.S. job losses in the coming months on top of the 80,000 that were cut last month.

Mark Zandi of Moody's Economy.com said businesses are "getting nervous and pulling back."

Analysts said they expect the jobless rate to peak around 6 percent early next year.

They said as many as 2 million people could lose their jobs in a recession that may have already begun.

Construction workers, real-estate agents and auto workers could be among those hardest hit. School and medical jobs should be safer.

Hiring is also expected to hold up in areas where people spend no matter how the economy is doing -- places like grocery stores, gas stations and repair shops.

However, because people may put off things like vacations, various segments of the tourism industry, including hotels and restaurants, could suffer.

Yes I know it's definitely sucker to have job losses... It does the same here in Germany and other countries as well. *sigh*

Blame it on our stupid president and his minions.

Yeah... the entertainment industry could be hit the worse since people spend less on entertainment and more on necessities.

Even the movie theaters around here don't get as many people as they did before. :(

Yup, I remember about movie theater in between 90's and early 2000's, they got more consumers than in right now.

There's alot of them are go out and watch movie on weekend as well.

That's sad news for people who suffers from lose job.

Gasp! That's right. There was never one single solitary person unemployed in the U.S. before Bush I and Bush II. Clear back to 1776, when we could blame it all on another King George.

And in the eight Clinton years in between Bushes, there was suddenly 100% employment again.

It's fun making history as much of an opinion as politics and economics.

Chase, FYI Bush is simply a dumber version of Reagan. History is so repeating itself. He thought that supply-side economics (Reaganomics) would work, he's a warhawk, etc etc etc. He's gotten us into a deficect. It was HIS actions that got us into the SECOND recession of his term. He basicly IS the worst president of ALL time.

This is the greatest news we ever heard!!!! More job losses!!! Yay!

Yeah right... this how I feel:rl:

As I said, opinions are a lot like elbows; most everyone has a couple. It's funny how those opinions so often follow strict party lines. Contrary to what you may think, I'm not a Republican. I know presidents make mistakes. My point is we're living with lots of presidential mistakes of more than one president, past and present. If you really think Bush II is the worst, then it's much more party line thinking than historical accuracy.

I agree. I don't think Bush is the worst one. At least he's moral. Not immoral like Bill Clinton. No one's perfect and it's really the Congress most of the time, albeit a Democratic controlled one!

Bush's approval rating is 28% but Bill Clinton is 65% after left office in Jan 2001, that means Bush is worse than him.

Look like we are getting the Great Depress 3 is coming.

That is what the CNN news stated this few days ago. They are very concerned about expensive gasoline effect everything. Truck delivery will be cost over 200 dollars to delivery the food. It effects the grocery food price going up very bad plus customers can't afford to drive to the restruants. The owner restrauants are very concerned due to slow business plus the meals price will be going up.

Especially the mall shopping become very very slow. Several stores will be out of business and force to sale on the items 1/2 price. Their profit will be very struggle during this bad economy.
