ok, one of my kids has this math problem and I don't know how to solve it

jim and his uncle went to the circus

together they spent 30 dollars

4/15 of that for a bus ride

2/5 for food

7 dollars for tickets

and the rest on souvenirs

what part of their money did they spend on souvenirs.

I need the answer and I need to know how you
solved it because she has more problems to do

Thanks to anyone who can help

bbnt......

Here the Problem....

the bus equals 4/15 which equals 1/4 convert to decimals which equals .25%
the food equals 2/5 which equals 3/8 convert to decimals which equals .375%
the tickets cost 7.00 dollars. the bus and food equals .625 percent of 30.00 dollars. 30.00 x .625 = 18.75 plus 7.00 for the tickets equals 25.75. so 30.00
minus 25.75 =4.25 for souviners.

I hope I am Correct on this... :D

Jim & his uncle spent $30.00 at the carnival.

4/15 was spent for their bus ride.
(4/15) x $30.00 = $8.00

2/5 was spent for food.
(2/5) x $30.00 = $12.00

$7.00 was spent for tickets.

The rest was spent on souvenirs.
$30.00 - $8.00 - $12.00 - $7.00 = $3.00

$3.00 out of $30.00 is 10%

I hope that's the answer you're looking for. :thumb:

Vampy is right. Also if you're not sure how fraction works, look at first fraction
4/15 x 30$.... you divide 30 by 15 and get 2, then multiply 2 with 4 and you get $8.

30$ divided by 5 equals to 6, times 2 equals to 12$

Hope that clears it up a bit more.

Here's a formula that you can try:

[(4/15)*30]+[(2/5)*30]+7+n=30
8+12+7+n=30
n=30-8-12-7
n=3

Yeah, that's you!
