Market Basket is Selling Food 5 Days Old.

Children are dying right now as refugees from Somolia try to reach Kenya. The kids are too vulnerable to make it. The people who don't leave are starving. It's a complete disaster. The worst part is that the mothers don't even cry anymore. They have to move on and save their stength for any children who may survive.

Sounds like there's a war or a very dyfunctional government system down there

Yea, the relief workers can't get in. The closest that relief workers can get is Kenya. And the refugees have to walk Kenya. :mad2:

Nonsense. Look at the link Reba provided. If Time says there is plenty of food, then it must be so. :giggle:

Right , the babies are picture of health! NOT! there may be plenty of food but it getting to the people that really need it. and the cost of food is really going up. I do not know how people can shop a farm stand all the time ,I when one
and a guy paid $1.25 for just one tomato.

Remembering the 2 bags of chicken I bought at the Winn-Dixie....ROTTEN!...I ask the lady behind the meat counter about the expiration date (since the chicken was discounted)...she said it expired that day, but it was still good as long as you cook it now or just go ahead and freeze it....

I took it home, opened the bag to boil some of it and to freeze the rest...and BOY...THE STENCH!...Pure Rotten Chicken....

I took it back, and raised hell at the Customer Service Counter,,told the lady to "smell" the chicken if she didn't believe me...which she declined to do so...

So, I'm always cautious of buying Chicken at the grocery stores....Also buying rice and flour...because of the "mealy" bugs....I put mine in lock-type plastic bins, and always shake and check it when I take it out of the package.

All in all, we never really know exactly what we put into our mouths, especially at restaurants...

I know the smell of rotting processed chicken all too well. I had to literally throw away an entire truck load of it one day because the freezer unit on a trailer had gone out and it was up to me to dispose of it properly before USDA caught it. (they would have placed a hold on the trailer which would have been an NR for the company).

I also know the stench of dead rotting chicken carcasses, neither smells pleasant!

I can usually tell by the feel of the chicken in a store if it's about to go bad or not. It starts getting a bit rubbery if it's processed. It's hard to explain, it doesn't have that 'slab o' meat' feel to it after a while.

I went to Market Basket food store there next town a few weeks ago. I saw how filthy place is. I decided not to buy some foods there.
I always go to Shaw's, Stop & Shop, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods Market here.

That sucks.

I've had that happen to me several times in the past.

Last night, I was at Target. I wanted to buy a bag of gummi worms, but almost all the bags looked like they solidified into one big gummi mass. I guess they transported the candy during one of those super-hot days. :(

Some people put their flour in the freezer to kill any bugs eggs that might be in it. I was at Walmart once and was going to buy some dried dog food and there a lot food moths flying all around the bags . Gross! I have not been to Walmart in years, I brought some frozen food at Sam's Club once and it was freeze burn when I when to cook it. I rather buy food from a smaller chain that has a faster turn over of it stock.

Travis, the relief workers can't get in because of the violence. Soldiers in charge don't want the people to get help. Just a big mess.
I have a friend who is in Africa with Carter Foundation. She's an amazing person. She never stays in one place more than about 6 months. They move her where the medical need is the greatest.

People here around call Market Basket 'Market Bucket' ! But more people shop there because is the cheapest store around.

Shop at a more popular store where food moves. My grocery store is very popular and I've never gotten any bad food there.

Doesn't matter where you shop at. You will never know what you actually buy.

Even McDonald's is one of the most popular resturaunts around yet, they would sometimes make burgers filled with dead flies, bug poop, rat poison, or even ants on the foods.

I was a mall years ago with my daughter and a mother had brought a meatball sub that she was going to share with small child. She was cutting up a meatball and found a nickle in it. She really upset as her child could had choked on it. The place was popular but people can still be careless. Speaking of rats
someone told me about a person ordered a bucket of Kentucky fried chicken and bit into a deep fried RAT!! The rat much had fell into the batter and got cooked with the chicken!! I would had freaked out like HELL if that ever happen to me. GROSS ! I hope no one is eating while reading this..
