Police arrest a 59-year-old city worker they believe is the notorious serial killer. Eight deaths in the 1970s were linked to the BTK killer, who resurfaced about a year ago after 25 years of silence. WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 27) - A 31-year manhunt for a serial killer who taunted police with letters about his crimes ended Saturday when authorities said they finally caught up with the man who called himself BTK and linked him to at least 10 murders.
''The bottom line: BTK is arrested,'' Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams said Saturday, setting off applause from a crowd that included family members of some of the victims. The suspect was identified as Dennis L. Rader, a 59-year-old city worker in nearby Park City, who was arrested Friday. Police did not say how they identified Rader as a suspect or whether he has said anything since his arrest. http://search.abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=535619

BTK - a self-coined nickname that stands for ''Bind, Torture, Kill'' - stoked fears throughout the 1970s in Wichita, a manufacturing center with 350,000 residents, about 180 miles southwest of Kansas City, Mo.

I saw him on "American Most Wanted" last nite, I cannot believe it took 30 yrs to find that guy? What the heck.....

Wow , 30 years is a long time! :Ohno:

I was very relieved to hear they arrested a suspect. I have a friend that lives in Lansing, KS, and it frightened me that this guy was still running around after all that time.

Am grateful he can't hurt anybody else. :applause:

Indeed, I am very glad they've captured the elusive killer at last. Brave of his daughter to turn him in!!! In his photo he looked so....ordinary, it is actually scary. 0_o This is a very good news indeed. :nods:

Cheri, from the title of this topic, I thought you finally found the man of your dreams! :giggle:

Anyway, yeah good thing they finally got him....but, 30 years? Yikes!

ROFL, Yes right Tousi... :giggle:

I read the Enquirer magazine that Dennis Rader killed people because
he tried so hard to be normal... Tried to be a good husband and
a Christian. But he has homosexual tendency.
But that doesn't make sense.
