kind of a long shot...but..anyone ever go to CUBA?

I know there are MANY americans here but i was wndering if anyone ever went to cuba and where did u stay? did u like it? did u have fun?

My friends and I are all planning to go on vaca in february..which I reallyyyy need. A nice vaca would do me well..but anywho we were told the beaches were to die for and it's a great vaca spot..any thoughts? thanks:D
 
Let you know, US resident doesn't have access on travel direct to Cuba. So, we would required to fly to other country before to Cuba. Such as, we need go to Mexico and switch to other airplane to Cuba to make legal.

I'm not aware on Canada if they can fly direct to Cuba. Hope you have safe n' fun in Cuba. Bring friends is GREAT idea. Stick together!

I'm always interest going to US Virgin Island which I felt more comfortable and beautiful beach.
 
I think Canada can fly you out to Cuba...someone told me but I can't remember who. BUT you can check it out before making all the plans.

Good luck and HAVE FUN! Or other suggestion go to different location to fit your budget. :)
 
I agreed...I would love to go to Virgin Island one day. :)

I haven't been at Cuba, but had been at a country that are near Cuba, which is The Bahamas ;)
 
Yes, Canadians are allowed to travel to Cuba since there is no embargo.

Why visit a country that jailed dissidents because Cuban leaders doesn't believe in freedom of assembly like we do? Who killed anyone who opposed the great revolutionary,the great leader Castro because there is no freedom of speech.Why did thousands (if not million(s)) of Cubans defected/escaped/moved to the U.S. when maybe less than 10 emigrated to Cuban in the last 50 years?

My dad went to Cuba but it wasn't for a vacation. :D
 
My classmate told us that she and her friend went to Cuba from cruise ship. You can actually get there from either Haiti or Jamaica (preferably this one). Just hire a boater to take you there.
 
I personally would not visit a Communist country - unless you can tolerate low quality necessities and movement restrictions, by all means have fun. Due to the embargo, I wonder if a US citizen can enter with a US passport, or will need to apply for a visa and be recognized as a citizen from another country?
 
I have never been to Cuba, but I live 120m from the Communist country. Heh.

You wanna figure out where that is. Look at a map of the United States and zero in on FL. Locate Miami and then go S. I live in the FL Keys. Key West is the Southern Most point of the US and it's only 90 miles from Cuba. I live 30mi E of there. :wave:
 
There's someone here on AD who has been to Cuba and back. US passport okay but no Cuban stamp on the passport. Stamped on airline boarding pass back and kept together with airline tickets. Go through the 3rd country (Bahamas). That someone went with next door neighbors to help out with the baggage allowances. She took only few days' worth of her own neccessities/clothes but rest of the baggage for the neighbors to fill up with everything their family in Cuba needed. Her neigbhor was high up in the Cuban military and got her a journalist ID that would fly with the Cuban authorities. No fuss, no muss. However, when neighbors invited her to go again the following year, President Bush just took office and started hardening on sanctions to Cuba with US agents catching US Citizens coming home and fining them thousands of dollars just for having gone to Cuba. So she didn't go the second time.....She's very glad she went. Now the Bush Administration limits off island Cubans to a visit once every three years, not once a year or more (?) as during the time she went. Remittances sent to Cuba has been greatly reduced as well.

The big fuss is actually over SPENDING U.S. DOLLARS IN CUBA than Americans going there or not. You'd have to spend your money to get whatever in Cuba and that's illegal because U.S. does not want its money on in Cuba as much as it can do to control that.

Visit communist country, except for North Korea isn't bad, just use common sense and know about what are you doing with everything.

Visit Cuba is more safer than Iran.
 
Cuba, I have always wanted to go there. I am an US legal resident but an Australian citizen. wondering I can go to Cuba based on my Australian passport and back to US with my green card?

AliciaM Beaches to die for? Try Phi Phi Beach, Thailand. I had the best memories welded in my mind forever. Do some google and start dreaming some imaginary sex
 
Americans CAN go to Cuba. The embargo is on flights and ships between US and Cuba (in addition to imports/exports). You just have to go through a different country (Mexico or one of the Caribbean islands). I'd like to go to Cuba to see where my mom and dad were born/raised. However, it is a bit risky for my parents to come with me since they have Cuba as their nationality on their passport. They may not be able to leave Cuba. I did hear beaches are beautiful, but I wonder what it is really like beyond the tourist scene....
