I feel that it’s also appropriate to point out that a killer whale isn’t a fish—it’s a mammal.

That's a fact of life - I did enjoy 'Free Willy' and it was a lovely movie. At least, people and humanity combined, do still exist and they gave Keiko the opportunity to be in the wild after years of being in captivity. Keiko made the option of staying close to humankind as he was practically raised by humans in captivity and felt secured by being close to areas where it's mostly populated.

so exactly how long do whales live? about 10 to 30 yrs or something?

anyway, I've seen all 3 of those movies but the orginal was a classic, though.

so, r.i.p Keiko (it's a native american name, isn't it?)

true...whoever said it's a fish must be really high or something :ugh:

They have shorter lives in capacity (they live longer in the wild..)

Yes, Killer Whales or Orcas -- the average life span is 35 in the wild and like the news article, it said it was pretty old age for Keiko -- whales in captivity usually have shorter lives. Like I said earlier, at least Keiko did have the opportunity to be free in the wild. He did have a taste of it for a bit there. :)

Keiko did seem content and happy where he decided to stay.

I found out about it on news.. my heart breaks.. :( bless that whale!
