'Jon & Kate' to make 'announcement'
'Jon & Kate' to make 'announcement' - CNN.com

With ratings sagging for TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus 8," the cable channel is teasing viewers with the revelation that "Jon & Kate have an announcement."

The reality show's regularly scheduled episode will be pre-empted by a one-hour "special" Monday night, according to a TLC promotional spot released Thursday.

"Recently, we've made some life-changing decisions, decisions that will affect every member of our family, ones that we hope will bring each of us some peace," Kate Gosselin says in the video promo.

As she speaks, these words cross the screen:

"A family in turmoil ... A relationship at a crossroads ... Where do they go from here?"

The show chronicles the life of Jon and Kate Gosselin and their eight children -- sextuplets and twins.

The show's fifth season debuted last month to record ratings, but dropped off to its previous season average in the third episode, which aired this week, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The season opened amid tabloid reports accusing Jon of cheating with a 23-year-old, which Kate said she did not believe.

"We, as you know, have a reality show. Everyone wants to know everything about us," she told CNN's Larry King last month. "And I feel like this is a situation, you know, you can't believe everything that you read ... and so we are dealing with it privately."

Jon Gosselin issued a written statement last month saying the "allegations are false and just plain hurtful."

"The bottom line is, I did not cheat on Kate," he said. "I'm sorry for putting my family in this awkward position, given some poor decisions and bad judgments I've made recently."

The poor judgments stem from the fact that Jon does not understand the full impact of being a public figure, Kate Gosselin said.

"Jon is having difficult times realizing that you can't go to the grocery store without people whipping out their cell phones, calling everyone they know and taking pictures of you," she said. "He is dealing very poorly with it ... and these things are making him realize, 'Oh, my gosh, I cannot go anywhere without everyone knowing who I am.' "

The couple married in 1999 after meeting at a picnic in 1997, according to their Web site.

Kate said they are committed to their family.

"I think the important thing to remember is that we love our kids to pieces," she said.

im sure Jon and Kate must kept marriages and not going see another man nor woman but Jon been see young girl at 23 years old and Jon had affair without knowledge Kate!! but Kate been vacation with kids and also include magazines every weeks..Plus national tv every weeks expect E! and lots of mores..

They subject themselves to reality TV, they open their public lives to gossip. Oh well. I sincerely hope they work their marriage out. If not, then best of luck to them.

Jon And Kate To Make "Big Announcement"
Jon And Kate To Make "Big Announcement" - CBS News

Jon and Kate Gosselin have an announcement to make.

In a TV promo for a special episode of their TLC program "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" that will air on Monday, Kate Gosselin says the couple has made some "life-changing decisions" that will affect their famous family.

She goes on to say that she hopes the choices will "bring each of us some peace."

The TV spot, which first aired Wednesday night, flashed phrases like "A family in turmoil" and "A relationship at a crossroads." The special episode will air on Monday night.

The Gosselin's marriage has been under strain for some time. During the premiere of the show's fifth season earlier this year, which was watched by a record 9.8 million viewers, the two came together to throw a fifth birthday party for their sextuplets but admitted the future of their marriage was uncertain.

Whether or not they split up, it's not going to affect anyone else's life more dramatically than their children's. Kate has done just as much in recent months as Jon, and honestly from what I gather Jon is whooped.

I agree with shel. The Gosselins have no one to blame but themselves. If you want to be part of a reality show, then you have to accept the gossip that comes along with it. I read an article on Road Runner which said that Jon and Kate are on the verge of a divorce, but who knows? For their sake, I do hope they can work things out because they make a cute couple. I really enjoy the show myself and would be sad to see it come to an end.

I've seen videos of how Kate contradicts herself when being a parent.

In one show, she is seen demanding water... only to tell her daughter that it's not right to demand water.

Jon Gosselin Goes Apartment Hunting in New York - Jon Gosselin, Kate Gosselin : People.com

Jon Gosselin returned to the home he shares with wife Kate and their eight children in Wernersville, Penn., on Friday – after a day of apartment hunting in New York City.

A source close to the situation has confirmed to PEOPLE that Gosselin, 32, checked out property at Trump Place, a high-rise residential complex on Manhattan's Upper West Side. According to Gawker.com, which first reported the news, he looked at a river-facing one-bedroom apartment that rents for about $3,200 a month.

"[Jon] has been going back and forth to New York a lot" a source tells PEOPLE. The search for real estate comes in the wake of news from TLC that Monday's episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight – the reality show that made Jon and Kate Gosselin famous – will include a major announcement about the future of their family, fueling speculation the troubled couple may part ways.

"There's definitely a lot of drama going on but from my understanding he's doing fine," the source said.

When Jon returned to the family home on Friday, he was driving a black BMW and seen smoking at the side of the residence. Kate , 34, left the home early in the day, while the kids were spotted playing in the yard, according to an eyewitness.

Jon & Kate Splitting? (rumors?!?)
Jon & Kate Splitting? - The Early Show - CBS News

Jon and Kate Gosselin have a major announcement in store for fans of their white-hot reality show, "Jon & Kate Plus Eight."

In a 30-second promo for a special, hour-long edition of the TLC show slated to run Monday, Kate says the two of them have made some "life-changing decisions" that will affect their famous family, adding she hopes the choices will "bring each of us some peace."

The TV spot, which first aired Wednesday night, flashed phrases such as "a family in turmoil" and "a relationship at a crossroads."

Given their recent track record, insiders say Jon and Kate's embattled ten-year marriage has finally reached the breaking point. TLC isn't revealing what the news will be, but there are reports it could be that the couple is separating or divorcing.

"Sources and family members have told us that Jon, for months now, has been living in the garage apartment, and that they were very interested in having separate lives," Us magazine Deputy News Editor Natalie Thomas told CBS News. " ... Now, sources are telling us ... he is looking for a new place and he will be moving out."

Monday's announcement would follow a string of tabloid rumors, some alleging infidelity by both Jon and Kate, rumors both deny.

But, with tensions running high, the marital strains have become all to clear to the millions of fans who tune in each week.

"They both seem pretty unhappy with the current situation," Thomas says. " ... I think it will actually, probably bring them peace and hopefully, the kids, as well, if they're not having Mommy and Daddy fighting so much any more."

But, with obligations for multiple future seasons, observers say viewers are sure to see more of them, even if it's no longer Jon AND Kate plus eight.

Are we being unfair to Kate?
Are we being unfair to Kate? – The Marquee Blog - CNN.com Blogs

My phone hasn’t stopped buzzing since news broke that there will be a special announcement on “Jon & Kate” Monday night.

Speculation as to whether or not the couple is divorcing is running rampant and I had been expecting that folks would be taking sides.

I was wrong.

Over and over I have been hearing “Good for Jon if it’s true” and “I hope he does get away from her.” My own mother — while doubting that they are actually splitting up — has been known to lament what she perceives as Kate “treating Jon like he is a dog.”

Posters to this blog have also been less than kind, and the brunt of the ire has been aimed at Kate.

Commenting under the name “The Truth Hurts,” one person wrote “[Kate] is a disgusting human being, consumed with image and her own vanity. I hope Jon takes her for everything,” while Valerie Murphy said “She is a publicity whore and will regret the day that she and he chose to subject their minor children to a media circus, never mind the fact there are 8 young children being cared for by a team.”

But is Kate being treated fairly?

Would any of us want to live in a fishbowl, having our every word and action documented for the world to see, judge and comment on even if the financial compensation was hefty?

Life can get pretty crazy sometimes, especially with eight children. How many people who would want to see their lives filmed, edited and packaged for maximum entertainment?

Is the hunger for fame really that vast that people no longer care if the harsh glare of reality television more often than not shines a light on those parts of themselves that are less than flattering?

After the demise of his marriage, former reality star Nick Lachey was quoted as saying he and his now ex-wife Jessica Simpson found themselves in real life slipping into the roles they portrayed on the show: her the ditzy bride, and he the longsuffering groom scratching his head at her antics.

Have Jon and Kate been cast as the henpecked hubby fighting for freedom from his shrew of a wife and, if so, are those roles they can ever escape?

Kate is a b****. she is soo demanding and unfair. i feel for the kids more than anything

That woman has changed dramatically since the beginning of their show. If you watch the first episodes and then jump to the latest ones, you will notice a huge difference. She claims to have a "career" now. Her career is as a mother, not producing a show about her children. The entire show's atmosphere has changed.

Wow, that's sad. I feel bad for the kids. But I think Kate is a B*tch.... I mean look how she demands her husband and how she puts him down and always nagging him, even when he does it right!!!

No wonder why he wants the relationship off! I don't blame him one bit.

New clip shows 'Jon & Kate' troubles
New clip shows 'Jon & Kate' troubles - CNN.com

TLC released another video segment Friday from the network's one-hour "Jon & Kate Plus 8" episode scheduled to air Monday night.

The scene focuses on "crooked houses" -- outdoor mini-houses that the Gosselins are putting on their property that kids get to design -- and Jon and Kate's disagreement as to where they should be placed. After briefly showing the excited siblings playing in the houses, the scene gets right to the subject of the couple's troubled marriage.

"It doesn't matter where Jon and I are in our relationship," Kate Gosselin says in the video. "My kids still matter the most to me."

Reports have surfaced online that the couple will be announcing their divorce on Monday's show, but TLC/Discovery is not commenting on those reports.

"We haven't really known where we were going, but we've been dealing with this for a long time. A slow progression that has not popped up one day -- it's not been, like, a secret," says Kate.

"It just got worse and worse and worse," says Jon. "With all the tabloids and all that, it made it even worse."

"We can't go back now, we can only go forward," says Kate in the segment. "And that's what we're gonna do." Blog: Is what's happening to 'Jon & Kate' fair?

My guess is that they are going to say they won't do the reality show anymore because it is interferring with their lives too much.

My guess is that they are going to say they won't do the reality show anymore because it is interferring with their lives too much.

I wonder if they knew or understood what they were getting themselves into when they signed the first contract to do the reality show?

My uncle was famous in the 80s and I remember people chasing after him. It can be scary.

What I would find unbearable is the constant cameras in your face everywhere you go and watching everything you do all the time.
