Is this diet healthy?

So I gather that you Mister Potts are the one that PFH is talking about then. I am not an expert and there are details that should be considered before going on any diet / exercise regiment. Your age, height, weight, overall health, etc are some of what should be considered. From my understanding under proper conditions, 1 to 2 lbs loss a week is healthy. 15 lbs in a few days is probably not.

Good luck to you and all I would add is to either get doctors advise or educate yourself on the proper approach given your personal details.

All the best!

Yes.

His pictures are posted in the pictures section, take a look. That's a guy who eats 3,500+ calories a day.

This almost sounds like the Atkins diet.

I have seen plenty of people lose weight on a high protein diet.

Yeah. The problem that some people have with the Atkins Diet is that they jump into it, then jump out of it the wrong way.

The Atkins Diet requires low carbs... but for the carb intake to increase steadily as the weeks go by.

At first, you're supposed to start at under 20 grams of carbs. After a few weeks, you increase the carb intake to 25 grams... 30 grams... 35 grams... etc... every week or so.

It's like lifting weights. You don't build strong muscles unless you increase the weight slowly. Lifting 10 lb dumbbells for 10 months isn't going to make you grow bigger and stronger muscles. Lifting 10 lb dumbbells for a couple weeks will help, then increase to 15 lbs, then 20 lbs, etc.

That's how it is with the Atkins Diet. You lose weight fast, but the weight loss slows down. So, you need to increase the carb intake. When you get to a point where your carb intake is high, your body is running at high speed that you'll maintain your weight on a long run.

For a person who rides his bike at least 20 miles daily, works in a metal fabrication shop, generally a physical worker.

3600 calories, 150g fat, 2900 sodium, 430 carbs, 65 fiber, 225g sugar, and 130g protein a day?

The meal is probably 90-95% organic. The person who has this meal plan is actually losing weight.

Actually sounds reasonable, given his activity.

Sodium is NOT high at all - in fact, it's less than what most people consume despite eating LESS! An average American consumes over 3400 milligram of sodium.

Remember, the more active you are, the MORE you need calories. And when you consume more calories, you will inherently eat more nutrients unless it's just refined sugar like cokes and oils.

Mister Potts,

Are you an avid water drinker?

Could be that some weight is water weight?

If I'm drinking, I'm either drinking beer or water. And I drink alot. So to answer your question, yes, I'm an avid water drinker. Truth be told, I feel at times I may be overhydrating myself so I'm more cautious of that. :)
