So maybe I'm a lil irresponsible and I didnt teach him myself, but hey talking is really easier, you know? :D

Wow, that's is Gr-8....He seems a nice guy .....keep him near by!.. ;)

Cool.. I have a hearing hubby who taught himself some ASL when we met, but I have to teach him some more signs since ASL classes are not offered in Norway. He does know all the basic signs and how ASL is. Just needs to expand on his vocabulary. It's still great your bf decided to take ASL classes! :thumb:

hmm

hmmm, all this comotion just because i dont want to be left out of a conversation :applause:

Well its a big deal, more than you think, I think.. Yeah.. lol :D

It is a BIG deal. I had many hearing exes and one hearing husband - none of them were willing to take ASL classes in order to understand my culture better.

They instead tried to make me a "hearing person" and told me that I was too good for ASL and should only talk since I have good speech. But what the hell ..Im proud of being deaf and using ASL.

So Pinkster youre lucky :) :thumb:

Its not that i want to understand the "culture" better, and i'd never want her to be anything she didnt want to be, or couldnt be. She can talk, and i enjoy listening to her talk, but since so many of her friends and most of her family are deaf i'm pretty left out when they are around and talking, so while i doubt i'll ever be an asl master, atleast i will be able to pick up 30-50% of the conversation

:applause: thats great Jamie and Magladon!!!!!

i have dated 2 hearing guys and both have learned signs -- 1 after over 10 years of not seeing eachother, we got back in touch on a friendly basis and to my shock he REMEMBERED the signs i taught him so many years before  and i complimented him on his remembering the signs after all those years -- he said he tries and practice when he can to keep up with the skill and when working sometimes would have some deaf clients to assist and has said his learning signs from me was a big asset in his life -- deafies who happened to meet with him at work often would  and ask him how he learned signs
