I am sick of being in middle........Hearing world no one willing to give me a chance to work and train instead of going to college and Deaf world (HOVRS, Purplemail or w/e) I applied "Sorry you need degree" What kind of bullshit is that? No offense, I Know I am not only one felt this way but I am in huge debt right now and I am afraid what's gonna help next. Is there anyone who work for VRS, Purplemail or w/e can give me a chance to work with them? I REALLY need a job badly. I am tired of being not giving a chance. I mean there had to be a training instead going college to waste all those student loan I am already on it. Let me know if any of you work that company and see from there.

If you want my advise... I got few for you...

1st, start somewhere bottom. This is key to success, even if it means washing dishes at one of restaurant which I have done. Do NOT quit until you find another job as quitting will kick you back to where you would have to start all over again. EVEN if you hate the job so much.

2nd Networking, get to know people and get recongized, trust me the more networking you do, the higher you will land in good job. Today, almost no one gets job right out of newspaper classifields

3rd, dump that negative attitudes.

Finally everything DO take time.

I have been there where you are (for 19 years) UNTIL I decided to take other people's advises just like what I just adviced you above, took me 6 years to climb and reach to position that I really loved and want. Now with this job, I am not far from getting promotion for the third time. All done by my hard working and determination. Now, I have almost 9 years of solid working experience, thanks to Pizza Hut dishwashing position!

If you don't do these three advises, I can pretty much guarantee that you will be stuck in that vicious cycle as where you are.

I have to agree with diehardbiker, if you really need a job that bad then you gotta start somewhere small and work your way up. Lots of places will employ people with no experience requirement, it doesn't pay much, but it's better than nothing. ;)

If u are aiming for the jobs that require a college degree, then u would have to go back to school to get the degrees required for those jobs. Maybe u can get a job working at a college while going to school to complete your degree. If u dont want to get a degree, then take Cheri and Diehardbiker's advices.

As for hearing people not giving trainings, my mom cant move up the ladder at her job because she doesnt have a college degrees. The kinds of jobs that are next up all require getting a BA degree so she cant get training for them. Maybe training isnt enough for the kinds of jobs you are applying for?

Other point is that if you want to pursuit BA or BS degree, you will still have to start from somewhere in bottom. Some position requires BS or BA degree and I have known some people who has rich in experience but no degrees got these job. This includes myself! My position requires BS degree, and I do not have that and I got this job all based on my experience.

I am sure some people would exclaim, how do I get experience? The answer is simple, start in bottom. That is where you gain experiences.

I have seen those who went to college to earn BS or BA degree and work at restaurant or lousy job at same time. They ended up got the best job after they finish the school. That is because most employers prefers those who work their azz off and succeed. Those who don't work and went college to finish degree tend wait bit longer to get the best job. I have seen it all.

If you rather not go to college, how about Vo-Tech and
learn a trade? They have computer, nursing, carpenter,
etc..in less time than college. You can go there and see
what they have to offer in whatever you are interest in.

Get the education you need for the jobs you are seeking...

can not go to trade school or training for something that requires more..

Even with a high school diploma, now a days. One can hardly find a job without extra schooling for that specific field.

Thanks for rely back. Well, here it is.

I have work fast food for many years, still no luck with better job with stable paying. I have degree in Accountant Specialist but I looked for that position for like 5 years, still no luck so I give that up. I went to back to college and got degree in Photography. But I don't mind to work in office, government like that but it really hard to find one. I can't afford to go back to college again to get BA. I have done trade school........that was bad idea. They weren't helpful but I do have certification but still haven't go luck with job. I am almost 30 years old and I know i am not only one been through this but I am just sick of it for going to college and get BA to waste my money if that won't happen.

Have you tried for small CPA businesses or whatnot? Majority of the larger business requires a few years experience.

Same with the photography.. start with the smaller ones then work your way up with experience.

Many big wig places will not hire with out prior experience.

You also have to understand that the economy is not at its best.

If all else fails... please do refer to your local VRS... They are more than helpful to place you with a job with the education and credentials that you have.

That's what I did. I first started to work at a local elementary school across my old home as a janitor! Then a few years later, I had several data entry work before I decided to go to college to pursue my degrees. Now, I am having two professional jobs: VR counselor and VP installer. I love my jobs!

Damn you are lucky to work for VP installer. I would love to do like this. In fact I did tried small businesses but still no luck, they rather who can talk on phone which is stupidest thing ever. It's always about "you need to be able to use phone" blah blah blah. Oh I do have helped with VR but they are so slow and I know everything suck right now with those losing businesses and stuff. I just wish there is something that will let me prove them that I am quick leanrer and work in fast pace as I always have been. Ha, I do have ALOT experienced in photography. I am confused that job told you that you need a degree but you have a degree? :hmm:

BTW I am full time job and full time student.

Mostly jobs need job experience and degree.

Yes I do have degree but they wanted EXPERIENCED which I don't have that. Also, my degree is AAS. It just doesn't make sense if you finish college and then again they tell you you need an experience. It just frustrated me.

A friend of mine had a BA degree in Advertising when she was 22 years old but she didnt get to the big leagues immediately after college. She started working at an Ad agency as a switchboard operator for a few years. That was 15 years ago...now she is a CEO for a medical supply company. She got the job just 2 years ago. It took her like 13 years to get where she is now despite having a BA degree. Why not work as a filing clerk or something like that for a photography agency?

Same here, i was confused too...i thought she did not have
a degree. She did have a degree but need a job, thats all.
Well, ok, now i understand. Yeah, nowadays, it is very hard to
get a decent job due to recession. Im so sorry but just be
real persistent and it will pay off, ok.

Ok, I am not sure you all get it. I never have office job, filing clerk, or w/e. I ONLY did fast food. That's why I couldn't get any that kind of job. I am stuck with stupid fast food experienced level. They told me I don't have any experienced and won't hire me. So that's fucked everything up that they won't give me a chance. Hell I would love to work in post office since they have good paying and benefits but I didn't get hire because I am half blind that I required large print that I can read better. so that makes it littler harder on me.

Most filing clerks position are entry level positions which do not require experience. I got my first full time job as a mailing clerk for Farmer's Insurance at 20 years old and my only job experience was working at a fast food restaurant.

Well lucky you but I don't know why no one is willing to allow me to just do mailing clerk or w/e but it just doesn't happen to me ever. I may be impatient but it been goes on too long that I never work like office jobs before, but only fast food. It's just silly.

I cant say that it is discrimination or if it is the recession...:hmm:

Yeah, the job market sucks right now in a lot of places.

One by one, a lot of my friends are getting laid off. They're also having a hard time finding jobs too. :(
