then I get stuck with the heat eek !

If it is very very cold outside, then
all I have to do is to add another
blanket etc

What if your heating broke?

You could freeze to death!

Gosh, I rather to live in Nevada over Texas, because of Las Vegas, that pretty affordable place... I can't stand in high heat in Texas.

I have a sleeping bag that's rated for temps below zero farenheit, so even if it's cold, it's warm in the sleeping bag. In Minnesota, we're used to the cold weather and live with it.

Minnesota was WAY TOO COLD for me! I lived there for 5 years and could never get used to the cold...and I lived in Wisconsin before that...I was always freezing to death and could not stand it!

Now I live in Texas and I am so much more comfortable now. I am very very very sensitive to the cold.

I am too. I never lived in places like Minnesota. I grew up in Maryland, where the climate is more moderate, but regardless, the temps got down to 28 degrees in the dead of winter. I couldn't take it.

Despite the hurricanes this time of year, I'm quite happy where I am.

Quite happy! :D

I love cold ! Anyone who loves cold are more than welcome to come up and visit me in Alaska. :D

There is a need for an A/C in Alaska? I would think there is a stronger need for a portable heating unit :)

There's no need to bring a portable air conditioner. In Juneau, Alaska - that city is very coastal. It's right by the ocean. In summer, it rains almost everyday - sometimes, sunny. On outside, the climate is very cooler - never gettin' too hot like California or Midwest, or Texas or Arizona durin' in summer. There's only 2 metro buses in that town. You are more than welcome to come and visit. ;)

If, you wanna to see Polar Bears - then, go and visit in Anchorage and other cities surroundin' Anchorage. Juneau is in Southeast area. You will be able to see Lion seals along the shore nearby the ocean in Juneau. Anchorage is more far up Northwest. In Northwest area and up North to Northeast... the weather is verrrrrry COLD than in Southeast area. And, of course there's always snow in winter. Snow begins in October...sometimes, in November by followin' the top of the mountains. It will tell you. Penquins ? Nope, not in Juneau. :)

Sorry for off-topic. lol

ONLY TWO BUSES?! I refuse to live in such a place where there is not a lot of mass transportation. I would be bored to death!

I just don't care about hurricane but I just can return to Miami, that where birthplace for me, probably later in years or so.

 Well, I would like for you to check that out for information about Transit in Juneau.

Juneau, Alaska - Alaska's Capital City
Capital Transit

http://www.juneau.org/capitaltransit/index.php

Explore through and you will find there's only Route 3 and Route 4 metro buses on the transit schedule. The fare is only $ 1.50 ( I think ).

Juneau is not like Seattle with loooong freeway/or highway. There's some mountains at the end of the road up north of Juneau and even, in the south, too. I am not sure how many miles are for the both sides at the end to cease travelin'. I will find out later on today when I get a hold of my friend in Juneau. It's why there's a ferry to go across. There's alot of things to do in Juneau - many of them. Musuems, campin', hikin', fishin' and many more. Know what is my favorite ? Downtown. Because, it has only ONE street. There's many heritage stores along on both sides in between one street.

Am I talkin' off-topic again ? :o
