Anybody been in hospital? If so, what for?

My brother has been in hospital for chest infection and when he was little he got something stuck on his finger so they had to cut it off. My sister has also been in A&E when she torn her tendons.
Iv only been in hospital for my tonsils removal- few days aged seven

and my CI surgery- tuesday-fri night at 10 years

I've been in the hospital for the following:

Age 3: unsuccessful eye surgery (I don't remember how long I was hospitalized.)

Age 5: same reason (see above)

Age 24: severe case of the flu or food poisoning (doctors don't know which -- I was hospitalized for a week although doctors wanted to keep me there for 2 but I refused)

Age 34 and 35: CI surgery (overnight stay)

As far as the ER is concerned, I've been there for strep throat/sinus infection, vomiting/food poisoning, migraine headaches until I was placed on proper meds, chronic severe arm/shoulder pain, fainting and several manic episodes which included auditory hallucinations.

When I was 23 had a coccygectomy. It was an in and out sugery but the recovery time took alot longer.

i was in hospital overnite twice

Nov '99 health issue

March '02 heart cathzathion (sp) to close another hole in my heart that was never found at my first heart surgery in 1975

in both times i always get sick in the hospital so got kick out so i can get better at
home.

in 94 i had an appendectomy, there were complications so i was in a week.

in 95 had tonsils removed, in for a day

2008 severe migraine landed me in the er for a night.

In 2007 I fell on ice and broke my wrist and had go E.R. - mom took me - first time to break something and to remember being in hospital. They operated on my wrist and I had to have PT on it later.

As baby born premature and was taken to different hospital and put in infant ICU but don't know how long. My parents recall I had digestive issues and that kept me in for longer.

how premature were you born?

me and my sister was transferred to another hospital at 2 days old and my other sister was transferred 50 miles away. I was hospitalised for 3 months when I was born

At 8 to move one of my front teeth (one night)
At 28 4 widsom teeth out (in and out within 6 hours!!)
At 30 CI op (one night)

These all was GA related ops

In ER too many times to list!!!! Busted nose (2 times) badly bruised shoulder, broken toes/fingers, whiplash, broken ribs, pulled tendons (all rugby and horse riding related!) menigitis scare, severe ear infection (this was this time last year)

Abroad,
On my 21st birthday in Portugal i broke my foot ended up with purple cast and sailed home with it still on 4 weeks later, never told my mum, she nearly fainted when i hobbled off the boat towards to her. She would have put me on the plane home if i had told her earlier! I was having too much of good time.
aged 22 Pulled ACL in my knee while racing, diagnosed and treated in Boston America, treated in Buenos Aires, South America and Wellington, New Zealand. Again never told mum! she didn't know until she read my journal.

In Menorca, Spain, Aged 8 i back flipped into swimming pool resulting open fracture on top of my head!! 16 stitches and i never had fringe or back flipped again!

yeah yeah i am an accient prone, I have retired from rugby when I broke my nose for 2nd time! But i still race boats and ride race horses though.

I've never been to a hospital overnight.

My CI surgery 5 months ago was the first and only time I've ever been under anesthesia.

I had to spend a few hours at the hospital to get an IV since I had a sinus infection that was so bad that I threw up any food AND water that I ate/drank for days. So I was very dehydrated. I was about 14.

I've had to get stitches 4 times though. Reasons:
1) I climbed out of the crib and fell. Landed on my chin.
2) I climbed out of the crib and was successful. However I was hiding from my mom as a joke in the closet. For some INSANE reason, she had a broken mirror lying around and I sliced my finger.
3) I dove into a pool and as my body slid near the pool floor, the top of my foot scraped against the pool drain which had some sharp protruding thing. Bloody pool!
4) I stupidly sliced cheese... while holding it in my hand....(don't ask...)

Have been in and out of hospital a lot.

Always get broken bones and have had some stitches.

boo-boo on my scars. :(

Yeah when i had the ear infection (one side of my face swelled up) and menigtis scare (lumbar spinal punturce was all clear) i had IV fluids because i couldn't keep anything down but also had anti bios pumped into me via IV for few hours then sent home with bags and bags of anti bios, anti inflamatiores, anti nauesa and painkillers.

me and my sister was transferred to another hospital at 2 days old and my other sister was transferred 50 miles away. I was hospitalised for 3 months when I was born

I was 4 months premature and was rushed by ambulance to our local Children's Hospital (3 miles away) immediately after birth where I remained for an additional 4 months.

hmm where do i begin lol

-ER at 2 for sticking foam from the padding of my carseat up my nose and into my sinus cavity
-i think it was 5 that i got my tonsils and adenoids taken out
-i was in the ER a lot for chronic severe ear infections
-ive been in and out of the hospital due to asthma
-I was in and out of the hospital for my back when they thought i had leukemia/cancer but i have spondylolesthesis
-ive been in the hospital numerous times for broken fingers/toes, and my foot and fractured elbows and knees (i do competitive cheer and gymnastics) lol
-i had my wisdom teeth taken out
-i had mri/ct's for my head due to my sudden hearing loss and tinnitus
-and sunday/monday that just passed i was in the hospital for an asthma attack and went in an ambulance for the first time. They put me on prednisone for a week and cough meds with morphine in it, i have bronchitis....

The only time I had IV treatment in the ER was when I was sick with the flu/food poisoning. The nurses were shocked at how dehydrated I was since I lost 15 pounds and needed 2 IV bags before I started to feel a little better. After I left the ER, I saw my doctor who told me I needed to be admitted to the hospital.

I forgot about the time I was 16 and my sister took me to the ER after I experienced severe abdominal pain and vomiting. I was given an ultrasound, but doctors couldn't determine the cause.

Alicia,

I'm sorry to hear about your bronchitis. I've only had bronchitis twice in my life, but that was more than enough. Feel better soon!

I just remembered that the last time I was in the ER was in December when I had a URI. (upper respiratory infection) I was sent home with an inhaler to help me breathe, antibiotics and cough syrup.

I think that's it as far as ER visits go.
