Hospital

Oh! I forgot I was 36 years old, severe abs pain. ambulance brought me into Fairview Hospital, doctor found it's conspation (bloated and "shit" stuck inside). They put the pail on the IV hanger and tube into my ass. stirring the "Fleet" medication and start pumping.. then 15 minutes later the orderlies helped and put me down to commode toilet chair, whoooa it's flushed out of my ass. Ewwww and smelly very awful, they had to shut my trauma room's door (Rescue/Code Blue room) and turn on the ventation fan to vacuum the "Stinky" out, stayed overnight then discharged in the morning and private ambulance brought me back to my home that where my wheelchair in my apt.

Wow that is very long time for you to actually found out that you have bipolar, I am pretty sure it was hard time for you to be through. I am glad that you found out what's wrong with yourself. I am glad that you are happy and feeling better :)

From what I understand, it takes an average of 10 years before someone is accurately diagnosed with bipolar. That was certainly the case for me. I started showing clear signs of the disorder when I was 20, but wasn't diagnosed until age 35.

My current psychiatrist accurately diagnosed me with a certain type of bipolar that he thinks I've had since age 20. I've had 5 different diagnoses over the past 18 years (major depressive disorder, schizoaffective disorder, rapid cycling bipolar I, atypical bipolar I with rapid cycling and PTSD) so it's nice to finally have 2 correct diagnoses (atypical bipolar I with rapid cycling and PTSD). It's a relief to finally have a correct diagnosis instead of wondering what is wrong with me. :)

There have been many times where I've wondered if I really had bipolar, but
5 psychiatrists diagnosed me with it, so I'm pretty certain they're right. :)

By the way, when I was hospitalized for my first manic/psychotic episode in 2006, I spent a little over a month in the hospital. The shortest time I was hospitalized for a manic or depressive epsode was 8 days.

At the age of 4 I was undergoing surgery for tonsils removal
At the age of 7 and 8 I had two surgeries on my right ear for constant ear infections  everything is confused. All I remember is that I could barely hear with my right ear.

Haven't been in hospital ever since then and hope it will stay this way! :D

Deafteen , if u asked me how much premature born, I haven't forgotten - gotta ask my mom-

Oh yeah... I was premature baby too by two months so after my birth I had to stay in hospital too for 7 weeks because my lungs were not doing well. Now I'm all fine :D

Over-night stays .. when I had my second knee surgery; was there two days, they wanted me to stay longer, but I said no .. I hated it ...

And another when I was younger (maybe 12-13), I had a bike accident and fell head-first on rocks. I think I was there overnight, but I don't really remember ... I was blacked out part of the time. ...

5 people I know were born between 25-28 weeks gestation are deaf, 1 has mild cp
My ex boyfriend was born at 27 weeks weighing 2lb and he was in a coma for 6 months following his birth, i dont know if it was medically induced, he is fine now, he was born with his thumb and finger stuck to his hand, he has had cardiac issues but the only problem he has now is deafness.

I also suffered from seizures in my first 24 hours, but they were able to give me medication to stop this

I was on a respirator for 4 months and it took me that long to start eating properly. Doctors did not know if this would continue to be the case once my adoptive parents took me home. My mother did tell me that I also had colic as a baby and this negatively affected my feeding habits.

Doctors were very surprised that I wasn't born deaf given the fact that I was 4 months premature. They were also amazed that I didn't have any cognitive delays, CP, lung/heart issues, profound brain damage or respiratory problems. I do have year round allergies, but they aren't due to my premature birth.

My parents say I had a terrible time w/eating and retaining nutrients as a baby < no I honestly don't know if my mom breastfed or anything regarding that>and the medical staff tried all different things and were running out of option.....and then another doctor who has new idea with formula or something came in and said, since nothing else worked, let's try this - and it was a last-ditch effort. And whatever formula or procedures it was, worked.
But I think they either had to buy like doll clothes for me or have some made specially.

Same here. In fact, a neighbor of ours used to sew my clothes when I was a baby because I was so tiny. My mother said I was so small that I fit comfortably into the palm of her hand. :giggle: She even had a nickname for me that used the word "petite" along with my name, but I dare not mention what it was for fear of embarrasing myself. :laugh2:

my mum still has my baby clothes, she had to get them made, so tiny.
I was barely 5lb when I left hospital aged three months.

I was 4 lbs. 8 oz. when I left the hospital. I have all of my baby clothes, my baby shoes, the knick knacks my mother had in my nursery as well as my rattlers. :)

I have my baby clothes, the newspaper articles, the photos, my hospital bracelets, my teddies, the videos

Since I was born in 1970, videos did not exist except when it came to home movies. My adoptive parents weren't rich enough at the time to afford a video camera, slide projector and screen. However, I do have all of the newspaper articles as well as tons of baby pictures. My mother was a fanatic when it came to taking pictures. I must have 1,000s of them from infancy until the year she passed away. :giggle:

I have lots of photos but unfortunately theres no names on them. and there were 3 of us, theres names on some of them but not all.
