Hillary or Obama?

We also need to build one on the US-Canada border to prevent the illegal Canadians from enterting our country as well....
I'm not worried about floods of Canucks entering our country. It's the people from other countries who use Canada as an entry point, and then sneak into the USA that are the problem.

Reba for your questions, I would probably have to go with what they said instead of their past actions. I am looking at the goals for future, not at what has happened in the past.

I guess I mean...well the person I was 5 years ago is not the same person I am today. I had a different purposes and goals in the past, which can't be used for the future with me here at present day. I have a different goal, in which I will try to apply for next few years. Dunno if it makes any sense.

All I know I will have to do a lot of research before picking either one. It's a difficult choice for me, I admit that.
I understand what you mean about changing goals but how they behaved in the past is relevant. It shows us if they have integrity, how fast they can think on their feet, what kind of temperament they have under stress, how dependable they are, etc.

The important thing is that you know that you have to do research in order to make an informed decision. That's good. :)

I don't know if you are aware of this, but there are some places you can enter either Canada or the USA by road without a border or anything. In fact, some towns are right on the borderline, so you could be driving on a street in a residential area and be in Canada without knowing it.

Oh really? That's interesting!

To your questions:

I can see that Hillary & Obama did not talk much about those what the list you question us about but busy to consider their country. I guess that those list could remain unchanged... perhaps little change? If they want to change something then they would say a lot but they talked a lot about their people and country. Its about future and improve which is a huge matter. It's good to know that Hillary & Obama consider their positive for future is improve and change is number one than those lists, you want question us about. Sure, protect from terrors is also part of important matter as well.
I'm glad that they think positively about the future of my country but I need to know how they plan to accomplish those positive goals. Just saying, "I have positive goals for our country" is meaningless if there is no plan the accomplish the goals. Talk is cheap. Action is costly.

In that case, Reba and Fredfam, I guess Mcain with Huckabee as the Veep will have to do.....
We shall see. We haven't even had the national conventions yet, so things could change.

Oh, yes, I'm aware of that. Hubby and his family are from Michigan (in fact, some of them migrated from Canada to MI in the 1800's), so I understand the northern border situation. :)

I think read about one of those towns in a National Geographic piece years ago. Very interesting.

You're right, of course, Reba but here's how I kinda see it going down. McCain claims that he is the Republican's best hope and in a McCain/Clinton showdown, I think he would garner most moderates and independents and Hillary would be left with just the Dem liberal crowd. Being a moderate conservative, we could suffer far worse than McCain. He just has to get past the Obama supporters.

Very possible scenario.

I have to say I'm very impressed with the fact that the libral canidates support disabilty rights. Devel Patrick held a disabilty rights forum just before he was elected goveneor

Very possible scenario.

sigh, I think I may stop listening to any politician, and just wait till it's time to vote and then look at each ones voting record. Then I will vote for the one that agrees with ME! (or as close as I can get anyway)

One thing I am concerned about what the future President will do with the relationships with other countries. It's quite embarrassing to be one of most hated country in the world. We did so many bad thing for sake of our own country.
Especially that in 100 years from now, the USA will go down in the history books alongside all of the worst nationalist-imperialist régimes of the 20th century.

I want our President to seek friendship and good relationship both way, not one way.

Or otherwise our country won't last much longer. Roman Empire anyone?

I have no idea if those are true, but it does not erase the vibe that I get from other countries.

I doubt it. Then again, that could happen if all the ingrate countries whose bacon we pulled out of the fire so many times in the past develop amnesia.

I don't want him to be friends with the wrong people.

Actually we have already made many wrong friends while got rid of many good leaders/people throughout history.

I would think having friendship with countries like Canada, UK, France, Japan, South Korea would be important, no?

I mean it does not make sense that we try to form strong bond with China while "deny" Taiwan especially that Taiwan is a democracy country and China's not, just because China got more to offer than Taiwan. That sort of thing I am talking about.

However, I still think we should still work with countries that we don't like such as Cuba, North Korea, etc.
I think we have done more harm than good by shutting them out. If we develops a good relationship, they might even want to copy our model, instead of have opposite effects.
I don't think people will use that excuse of all those good we have done forever.

People will get tired and we are like walking time bomb. One day, one of powerful countries is going to snap, that's all it will take.

And when that happens, who will want to stand with us?

I think we are hated because we have done to much appeasing. We should stand for what we believe in and not care what other countries think. Why do we make friends with China when they have such awful human rights policies?
And you can NOT talk to terrorists. They will nod and smile then chop your head off, because they are motivated by their belief! You can not negotiate with some one like that because they will not listen.

I think some of that are not true.

Terrorists do listen sometimes.

Point is, we are ALREADY friends with China because we wanted something from China regardless of the consequences. We should have been worrying about make friends with South Korea or France instead. But all we can do is set by a good example to China if we are friends. We haven't because we have encouraged cheap labor at risk of human lives.
