I went to BRR when I was 15. It was fun. It was very HOT and humidity weather. That's true about BRR is strict the rules!

Same with Lucia's post about swimming in separate gender. I am sick of sleep in dorm with bunk during hot weather. The dorm don't have an AC or fans on! I was so sweat in bed. I used a thin sheet but still HOT! I took a shower twice time in a day daily!

I've been wear a short on knees not a short follow the hands on side and tee shirt. The girls are not allow to wear a tank strap shirt and boy pant, too short, and bikini. All boys and men must wear a full pants. How poor of them! It was so HOT!

It IS very very very fundie. I went to Bill Rice Ranch when I was 12. They had many strict rules.
I KNEW it! I read somewhere that Bob Jones University students work there......so of course it would be VERY VERY fundie. Like they view Falwell etc as "libral"....and yes, they are the ones who think that if you don't believe EXACTLY as they do, you're going to hell.
I believe they are also very anti contemporary music (they believe rock music is of the devil)

It IS very very very fundie. I went to Bill Rice Ranch when I was 12. They had many strict rules. Like if we want to go swimming, we have to cover ourselves in robes when walking to the pool, and the pool has a wooden fence around it so no one can see in and only one gender can swim in the pool at the same time, females can't share the pool with males at the same time. They take turns using the pool. Females swim for 1 hour, and then leave and it's the males' turn to swim in the pool.

The female and the male dormitories are seperated. All females are required to wear dresses or split skirts only, and males are required to wear pants (not shorts). Everyone has to go to church 3 times a day, everyday. And a lot of other stuff.

They try to make you go their way. There's only one way, and it's theirs. If you want to go a different way, they frown upon that, and will kick you out. They are incredibly strict about EVERYTHING.

They are VERY fundie Baptists. (I got kicked out of the Baptist church a long time ago for going to a dyke bar.) I was raised Lutheran, but my parents sent me to a Baptist church only because they had a deaf fellowship.

DOWN WITH BILL RICE RANCH!!!
If you don't like Bill Rice Ranch, you don't need to go there again. There's no need to spoil this thread for Joekad99.

It's interesting that some people view Christian beliefs and practices as unbearable tyranny, and others view them as laudable standards. Most parents who send their children to camp appreciate the fact that they can trust the camp to support good standards.

I for one am glad that there are Christian camps available for children, hearing and deaf.

I'm glad that JoeKad99 enjoyed camp, and wanted to share that experience with us. I hope these negative comments about the camp don't take away from the intent of this thread's creator.

Yeah! I had a fun at BRR. I haven't go there for long times. That's great to meet new people from other states. I got save by Jesus at church.

Reba, I'm not Lucia BUT, she didn't attack BRR for having Christian beliefs and practices! She is not one of those mythical "secularists" who is automaticly anti-Christian. She's mentioned that she is OK with Christianity as a matter of fact................Lutherans are Christians too you know!
She was simply commenting on the fact that BRR is VERY conservative and strict in its approach to Christianity. Lucia is quite libral........libral folks and very conservative/fundie approaches to life don't mix very well.

:gpost: I'm quite liberal in my beliefs, too. I also grew up with a fundamentalist Baptist background.

They believe that if you're not saved before you die, you automatically go to hell, even if you led a very christian life. I think that's very extreme.

The following statement is not an attack?

"DOWN WITH BILL RICE RANCH!!!"

Oh ouch, that sounds like too religious camp, sorry about what happened to you.

I'm avoid to go any camp that's contain too religious stuff.

Yup, got agree, baptist is just more annoying in somewhere.

There's nothing wrong with describing the camp.

But this statement:

"DOWN WITH BILL RICE RANCH!!!"

That's not necessary. :nono:

I don't care. I don't like places and people who force their religion on you.

geez! Chill out.......... Please don't get argue. If you guys talk about religions. Mod will transfer into Religions forum. Please be careful! R e L a X i N g The thread is not yours! It's Joke's

She's not attacking a particular belief............she simply feels that BRR is an organization that she doesn't exactly agree with.
Last I checked BRR isn't a particular religion or organization that forms the basis of a religion (like the Vatican)
As a matter of fact, if I recall correctly Reba has said that Baptists aren't a particular religion/universal belief. Each church may identify as Baptist, but that can translate into a million different beliefs from "complete seperatist, gotta have everything in their lives specificaly "Christian"/stereotypical fundie/Bible Belter to churches that are so libral that they allow GLB people to be active faithful members of a congregation!
