I have 1993 ford tempo gl. I have found a hole ( broken part) on air intake from behind the raditator and i dont know what exact its called but i do know its air intake hose... but the plm is does it cause the coolant to leak too? or is it something else like its just for my car air to keep cold or hot during the climate ? I don't want to take it to the shop just yet til we know for sure if its that the hose of air intake did cause the coolant leak.... does anyone know about it?

I guess you might have a failed thermostat (that thingamajig that controls the temperature for coolant to from radiator to motor) plus a cracked thermostat housing that would have caused the leak. I had that happen to me this year with my car (2001 Ford ZX2 Escort) I had the thermostat replaced because my heater wont blow hot. After I had it replaced, I ended up with the car leaking coolant on my driveway. A trip to the dealer resulted in a diagnosis of a cracked thermostat housing so I got a new one for free. Second time, I had another coolant leak. Another trip resulted in a new thermostat housing gasket and rework of my cooling system for free even though my car was past warranty.

I hadnt had any coolant leaks since last May when I finally nipped my cooling system troubles in the bud...

You could try getting a new hose and see what happens.. and replace a thermostat

What are the syntoms (sp) like what problems is it showing, leaking coolant, other strange noises, and things like that. It's hard to understand what you're describing. I will be able to help you if you tell us what it was doing.

coolant is leaking... it ran out fast on the next day... theres a hole or broken part somewhere... and i can't hear if theres any noises. silly you.

by the way the thermostat is working just fine... its not the thermostat

ford sucks... but anyway.. when i was looking for the leak. and where it is from.. its hard.. i've been looking mostly everywhere till i found a loosen hose.. and all the sudden i thought that's the problem.. but as soon as i found out when i went to dealer.. i found out that part belongs to the air intake box.... and then i'm thinking.. that's not the problem that cause the coolant/antifreeze to leak. she filled it full.. and then the next day the coolant/antifreeze is gone.. and the antifreeze/coolant is on my driveway everywhere.. i can see the green spot on most of area on bottom of car.. but can't find anything..

Sounds like a cracked block, coolant leaking FROM the engine block which is worthless to fix....since it's hard to find where the leak is coming from...which can come from the outside of engine block which a small crack is hidden from. I might be wrong, though, or it could be the water pump seal is leaking, that's other thing to look for. Keep looking, it might be easy to miss.

ONG check the hoses first. a tiny pin hole can make you lose coolant.

Then water pump.

Go thru each possibility.

Is the coolant bright green or does it have a brownish tint to it?

goto auto parts store & buy a haynes repair manual. One for your model of car. Worth the investment. :thumb:

I've experience... DAMN FORD..
Thanks my old car is sitting!!

Prevouis One upon time, When we were driving out during the winter time and our way to the wal-mart somehow we felt vibrate and sputtering.. Made me wonder why no heater comes in.. Rest of my family were freezing death inside looks alike extreme fridge.. So we decide to stop by Canadian Tire (Auto shop) and explain what happend etc etc.. blah blah.. of course just reported to the auto staff. They were checked.. whoa... your coolant is fried and tube fried.. I said how ? can't be ?? Just shit happends.. oh sigh..
We were paid 568.99 dollars. *mumbling* thanks FORD! Few months later, got another worst parts came it off.. *another mumbling* fuk it.. We decide searching next new vechile... finally got KIA sportage 2001 just one owner.. and sat the car dealer property for 4 years... very very lowest millage.. *whistle* grab this vechile..

We still looked at FORD wagon still sitting the garage.. (chuckles) by the way we are happy have kia... :D

I advise you better go Auto shop and to check up your car... what wrong.. will tell you what wrong and etc etc.. will come high bill.. you'll surprised!

If yes.. then condiser plan another vechile ?

C.C. Sinned... its bright green.... and why would it be a pin hole if the coolant ran out on the next day when i filled it up to full? so it can't be just a pin hole.

If you park your car overnight or all day.. it can leak.. what's more is if you're driving it makes it worse because of the coolant liquid flows faster than just parking the car. Let me ask my fiance.. he used to have a tempo and had alot of problems with it back in the past so let me ask him and see what he says and i'll post in here.

Sorry to say, Hayes books SUCKS!!! They left out plenty valuable info. Never again trust Hayes!

FYI Cracked block is very RARE, the more common leak from the engine itself is blown head gasket. In fact head gasket isn't expensive, less than 50 dollars for the head gasket, but the problem is LABOR! Too much work involved with replacing head gasket.
I Personally don't know much about Fix Or Repair Daily. I know bunch about Chevies.
I can't say Chevies are the best. I just had enough shares of troubles with Chevies recently. I am considering dump my loyality to GM and opt for Japanese vehicles! They built them far better than Greedy American Unions who don't give damn about their work on assembly line.

I am a little bit confused about your statement. If the radiator has no rust at the bottom, then you have to tight the clamp hose harder so that it would stop the leak because the ring clamp is a little bit loosen due cold weather. You will need to buy a new hose and new two ring clamps at a car part store later. You use your hand to compress the hose to see if it is soft, then it's old.

i took to auto shop today for free estimate and found out it is raditator that is leaking very bad.... along with something else. O'well..... my car sucks. hehehe.

I knew it...

*psssst* how much cost repair estimate? *curiouis*~ :type:

Oh Radiator? Thats nothing comparing to head gasket job!
But do NOT dare to drive too much, because cylinder head is made of Aluminum alloy and they WILL warp if overheat. Once overheat occurs, kiss your head goodbye! The cost is astronished, ain't worth the risk.
