Do most Deaf people take off their HA's and CI's for haircuts?? Has anyone left them on and had the barber hit them with the razor?? :dunno:

I agree scuba...pretty idiotic...who wouldn't take it off?!?

I do mine myself and my wife trims my neck. Works pretty good and I saved a ton of money over the years :D

I use a vacuum hair cut machine, and I really love it. It really saves me big bucks. The brand is called Robocut which cost around 40 dollars.

Another brand, Beeflow Company also sells its own vacuum haircut machine. I never tried this brand.

I work at a community college part time and they have a hairdressing school. They do have a hairdressing "lab" so I go there to get free haircuts since I am faculty. Sometimes I do go to this Vietnamese hairdressing place near my home. They do a pretty good job. They have lots of hair style books, and all I have to do is show them what I want and they do it. LOL. Simple!

I get haircuts all myself with a buzzer or haircut at a barber, either way. Sometimes, rarely a friend cuts my hair. :)

does it really work? what kind of haircut u tend to get? i'm afraid to buy them and ruin my beautiful hair!

As for myself since I grew up, I had long thick hair my mom used to trimmed it till I was older like about 14 or 15 yrs old I went to hairstyle and then I was married I did not get a chance to go to have haircut. Anyway as for currently I go to professional whom cut my hair very well. Also my son gets his haircut at barber cuz he easily gets sweaty during summer times as he get bit bald hair but not bold. As for winter he outgrows a bit.. but not long, he easily gets sweaty..

I cut short hair - not very short. It has plastic tubes that give you the right measure for your desire. You will see some pictures on the RoboCut's website. For example, the manual tells you to vacuum-cut 4 inches at the top, 3 1/2 inches back, and 2" lower back and 1 1/2" bottom. In the front, sometimes, I use a scissor - it depends how you feel about it. It is very easy for me to use it. There is no hair on the floor which is great especially no mess job.

You will not have a problem with the vacuum haircut. I recommend that you don't overcut your hair for the first time. My first time, I cut it and it came out great. After four haircuts, I made a mistake, but it wasn't that bad because I was in hurry. Most of time are no problem. I am very happy with my machine.

I used to cut my own hair (yes, MYSELF. A woman cutting her own hair). I cannot bear letting somebody to cut my hair because they DON'T DO IT MY WAY!

I tried to pass on the scissors to my husband but... he .. just cannot do it and screw up my hairstyle. He said he REFUSED to cut my hair again. Only trim one strand that I cannot get to in the back.

I have been to hair salons but none of them has done a good job.
I have been thinking about going to beauty academcy or schools where they need volunteers... Since I am sure there are more "hip" hairstylists there who do UNDERSTAND what I want...
and they are cheaper for a professional (well to be) hairsalon...

There is a Paul Mitchell hairstylist school nearby and I am giving it a serious consideration...What do you think abotu Paul mitchell schools? Any bad experiences?

(And on a side note: I cut my husbadn's hair and he always approves it every time. He thought he should do my hair too since it was only fair... that was when I learned my mistake of passing on the scissors to him.)

I believe that alot of people are mistaken when they go to expensive barbers and "stylists". It is all a state of mind. The expensive places work on your MIND and you leave feeling like a million bucks even if you look ridiculous!

I have seen men almost totally bald go into a frenzy over their haircut.

I go to a small town "beauty" shop and the gal, Rosie is fantastic. I asked her why she was not somewhere trendy and she replied that she loved making small town people happy with their New Look. Her answer was good enough for me. And her haircuts are $16.50.

I like the sign that I read in one salon. "I am a beautician not a magician".

Oakley, you remind me of a joke:

Do you know how to kill crabs?

Shave half of your pubic hair. Set the rest on fire. When the crabs run to the shaved part, then stab them with an ice pick.

I go to this private barbershop downtown to get my hair highlighted and trimmed once or twice a year. She did fabulous!

For a couple of years, I have been cutting my husband's hair and my sons' hair to save money.

My hair is long but I will go to the shop or ask my sister to cut my hair for a trim. I don't know when.

I shaved my hair bald 2 days ago.

I used to have a shoulder length hairstyle...
but now I just shaved all my hair off...

cause why I have to do my hair, if I don't want a job or something like that.
And plus I can't afford to keep my hair nice and clean.

Yall can call me Kojak.

My mom asked me, "what if a man of my dream knock on my door, and he sees you baldheaded?"

I told mom, "I don't want no man."
