My friend joins my monster truck to stores. He saw my garage opener remote that I left it inside my monster truck all the time. He was advice to me ....don't leave it in my monster truck at outside parking or shopping etc.. Because It's happening to break in?

He said Must get it with me all the time? Unless my monster truck is inside the garage. :hmm:

If you keep your vehicle locked up, it should be fine. If your vehicle is broken into, if the remote is stolen, if the crook gets your home address before you notice the break in, if you don't disable your garage door before the crook gets there, if you don't keep the door between your garage and house locked when you're not home, then it could be a problem. But that's a lot of "ifs".

We've had remote controls in several different vehicles that are parked outside at public places for over 17 years, and have never had a problem. :dunno:

We had no problem either...we usually take remote inside the house when we are not going anywhere at night time...we always hide it really well also. But we haven't use it for a while lol

It depends on how secure your things are.

As long as you keep your truck locked, there should be no problems. If you have a secret compartment to put it in, put it there... so people can't peek in and see it in obvious sight.

If someone does break into your truck and use your garage door opener to open the garage door, then they would still have to go through the door in the garage that goes to your house. If that remains locked, you shouldn't have a problem.

Do you have anything valuable in the garage worth taking? Most of the time, the valuable stuff are big heavy stuff... like $200 ladders, $300 tool chests, etc. Other than that, everything is worthless. ;)

I have no problem because most thieves wouldn't bother looking up where I live if they see a garage door remote in the car at a store somewhere. Unless, they decide to follow me home.

Remote will not let the garage door open when you are in about 500 feet. :D I try one time before, not open at all unless you drive into driveway then it will open for you.

..also, if your truck is parked on the street or in the driveway to your home...then you may have a problem--that is if no-one's home and all other factors described in this thread among other possibilities gives a potential thief/burglar free access to your valuable items. However, if the remote is taken inside the home when parking your vehicle...then there's no 'ifs or buts'. ;)

Interesting!!!

He also told me a story about his friend s parent were victims by burglar!

How?

They went to Christmas shopping. Someone broken into their car and disappeared.

They called police and their son to be picked up to home.....

Parent found their car was inside the home then found that Another burglar!!! Police believed that robber was into the auto and looked up the register of car paper inside the glove box and drove it to Parent's house. Stolen everything values then rode with someone's car! :ugh:

True.

We've parked a vehicle out front for about 17 years, with the remote in the vehicle, and no one has broken into it. Maybe it's not tempting to thieves because it's very visible from the street, and we have motion detector security lights.

Our newer vehicles have garage door openers built into the overhead consoles, so they're not removable.

I dont have one but never like to leave anything valuable exposed or leave it in the vehicle. I like to keep my truck clean and nothing in it so the thief wouldnt be interesting in it at all. :dunno:

My mother has this garage door opener remote on her keychain.

Maybe it'll be worth looking into that option?
That way you have it with you at all times.
