Homecoming 2006

We regret every event and official activity that previously was scheduled during Homecoming weekend has now been postponed until further notice.

Please be aware that refunds at the Kellogg Conference Hotel at Gallaudet University can be given if reservations are cancelled with 24 hours of planned arrival.

Weekend Schedule

(subject to change)

Homecoming 2006 - Gallaudet University

Geez they postpone is bec of protest??? Gawd!!! Got email from Alumni. The President wrote

October 17, 2006

To Members of the Gallaudet Community:

We regret that due to the fact that Gallaudet University is not operating under normal circumstances, and the protesters continue to refuse to open all of the gates, we must postpone homecoming and all related activities.

King Jordan

President

Wow!! Might as well cancel everything there at Gally until the protests are over.

wow.. thats not good.. :(

it said 19-21 is cancelled.. i dont see 20-22??? where???

of what????

lost money on hotel, can't get Mail or package from post officer, professors can't do their jobs, staff can't do their jobs....
The campus and dorms must be looking filthy since cleaning people can't
get through gates.
And foods must be rotten away... since some people there are on hunger strike.

wow.. thats not good.. :(

it said 19-21 is cancelled.. i dont see 20-22??? where???
Smiley, it supposed on 20th to 22nd from Friday to Sunday. For many years, they always have on weekend but the first time they changed it to THURS to SAT. So 19th to 21st is still on. Click the blue line

yes but i read it said cancelled and postponed to other times... i dont see the new date but old date thats all??

It looks like GUAA and FSSA Coalition have decided to keep the HC weekend open this weekend so all those who have planned to come still can attend. This way many of those who bought plane tickets won't lose their $$ on those unrefundable tickets.

Well im not suprised abt the postponement. its for safety reasons, and its the price you have to pay

I do not support fernandes but im all abt education, time for us to get with the program and consider the education not the person is flawed!

And... we know who to blame.

There's reason to blame on Jane.
Top 10 Reasons Dr. Jane K. Ferandes

1. Ineffectives leadership

2. Even thought good experience on paperwork, no people skills or leadership

3. Poor track record and no credibility as a leader

4. Dr. Ferandes is incompetent. She can't run Gallaudet. She can't listen. I never once heard her admit, she is wrong.

5. Her administration will be crippled.

6. She could not prevent this situation from exacerbating.

7. The same person who fractured the university can't be the one to heal it.

8. She has no people skills and is cold.

9. Jane was pushed thru by Dr. King Jordan to provost and was the beneficiary of King's influence on Bo T.

10. Stop the damage.

Over the past day or two, people have also been saying that the protest is past the point of no return --either after the HMB incidents or after the arrests. Simply because of that, they feel, Jane Ferandes should step down from Gallaudet University.

i would agree with Kalista's posts

my old school never have postpone for homecoming and never have problems anyone but im sure have nice Supt at my old school.

but im sure Gally would learn lesson about prostates and also ex-president Jane she never listen about what mean of Homecoming! but im sure the President King Jordan know about homecoming.

I think its down to the battle of the wills between IKJ/JK and Gally students, GUAA, faculty, etc. Whoever lasts the longest will win.

There's reason to blame on Jane.
That's not a good excuse. You don't stop homecoming just because of something Jane did. Those students started a protest that interfered with everything else.
