John 13
"4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. 5 After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded."

I love being nude and even model that way for art classes!

Huh? What do you mean "impossible?" The "towel" that Jesus used wasn't a standard terry cloth bath size one from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It was just a long strip of linen cloth. It had plenty of yardage to wrap around his waist and groin area similar to a Sumo wrestler. That leaves long, loose ends. By wrapping it around the waist, it leaves the hands free to work without dropping the "towel". Use a little common sense.pek1 said:Reba, Slaves knelt on the floor, do they not? If so, a slave would have problems drying anyone's feet with a towel. Jesus was kneeling on both knees and it would not be possible for Him to dry their feet if he still had the towel around His waist.

Again, read the verse. He used the towel while he was girded (wrapped) with the towel.

The verse doesn't say He took the towel off while drying their feet. It says, "wherewith he was girded." That means Jesus kept the towel wrapped around his waist and used the loose ends to dry with. It wouldn't make sense for him to put the towel on, and then take it off again, until he was done.
It kind of reminds me of growing up in the era when moms wore aprons at home. It was an "all-purpose wiper". My mom had it tied around her waist, and used the loose ends for wiping kids' faces and hands. Or if our feet got wet from the snow, she would sit down and put our feet in her lap and rub them with the apron.
That is the image I see; I don't visualize Jesus "showing off" his nude body.
I don't understand this emphasis on naked bodies.
Reba, good post and I remember that too. My mom wore an apron too in my young years too

pek1 said:Precisely my point...Reba...read it again. Then, go back to the Greek and consult Church history. A sumo wrestler? Oh my, an active imagination...I can't imagine seeing my Saviour in anything like that, as slaves don't wear anything like that, at least not the kind I've seen in pictures before the Civil War.
As a mom and grandma, you'd be surprised what I have used to wipe various messes off various parts of kids' bodies. I've held towels in my teeth, tucked in a waistband, hanging around my neck, etc. Ask any mom. Then look at verse 5. Have you ever worn a towel and wiped someone else's feet dry while having it wrapped around yourself?
Different topic. In addition, what do you think Jesus wore when He was on the cross? He was wearing nothing except His birthday suit. Remember, the guards were gambling for His clothes.

From what you just said, any spouse gets one time forgiveness for an affair, which you have done and then some more after the first time. It appears to me that your hubby doesn't get it and wants to continue doing it. You've done your job, now comes the hard part for you: Perhaps being legally forced to pay child support, then looking at his other woman, will bring him to his senses. My heart goes out to you and the girls at this time.
