For all who are sceptic about organised religion.

Found a very interesting website...

If you are very religeous - stay away from it... - this might be too confronting.

If you are intreaged by the "Da Vinci Code" or books like
"The Jesus Mysteries", "Jesus and the Lost Goddes" and "The laughing Jesus"
then you'll enjoy this site....

 I'll bet April 1st is your favorite holiday.

A lot of people back then looked like Jesus. So, he was probably made up. ;)

I'm not interested in this--but doesn't it belong in the religion subforum??
Oeps, yes, you're right..

Moderator.. can you fix this?

One thing that dissaudes me from Christianity is the fact that NOTHING about Christianity is unique. If Christianity was THE ANSWER, then don't you think it would be unique and not copy older stories from other cultures?

pek1, more and more people are moving away from Christianit, at least in the US ....Yeah, there's the megachurches, but there are also many people who just go for the social value or who believe in Christianity more symbologically rather then literally!

I havent updating knowing what is "Da Vinci Code" is about... :dunno: If it is about mocking Jesus...I would be :pissed: and will not see this movie!

Sadly many people don't believe in God or Jesus...breaks my heart!

deafdyke,

I most definately understand what you're saying. First of all, the Bible talks about a mass exodus away from God.

Second, it is more easy to not believe in God due to all the scandals in various churches: the RCC and various Protestant ones; the crying for money "...or we will go off the air!" and the like. Yeah, I don't pay attention to that because it is aimed at people who actually have more than enough disposable income to take care of those ministries, but it still does come across bad.

Third, when we see all these mega churches (I don't attend one), and that money is no object, and people are "dressed to kill," and maybe we don't have as nice of clothes, it's understandable. I used to wear suits to church . . . I have three of them and about two dozen ties. I don't, because of what is perceived as a "my crap doesn't stink" or "I'm better than you" attitude in church. My suits cost about $150 each, which were NOT purchased at Sears, but actually a specialty store for men's clothing in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Yes, I have nice clothes, but I refuse to have a better than thou art attitude when wearing them, so I wear (clean) blue jeans and a decent shirt to church.

Fourth, most churches have that ghastly music, and the people who lead it have the "where's my limosine" attitude and one can't even talk to them because they're acting like bigshots. I wonder what their attitude would be if Jesus came in . . . would they recognize Him and praise Him or would they tell Him to "go have a seat over there (out of the way, in other words)."

Fifth and last, I guarantee, right now, every single person in Hell believes in God. But, it's already too late for them and they've already been judged. They will serve their sentence forever in the flames of Hell because they blatently refused to accept Christ as their Savior while they were alive on the earth. Scripture is clear when it says that all of us are without excuse (Romans 1:20).

What a terrible colour to read a post...

But the question is not organised religion, the question is the mindset that Jesus existed or not.

As a mythical figure he has been around for 5000 years. At some time, he became "real" and a historical person.

Apollo, also the son of God, also existed 2000 years ago.
What's the difference?

There are actually several differences. For starters, Apollo didn't raise from the dead after being falsely condemned and put to death on a Roman cross. Secondly, the Old Testament talks about the Jewish Messiah throughout (of which they still dispute, despite more proof than one can shake a stick at). Third, when one receives Christ as Savior, he/she is called a son of God (1 John 3:1-2). Masculine is always used for God and doesn't diminish women in any way.

All myths. Made by humans.
But the believe and trust of someone 2000years ago believinbg in Apollo is the same as the belief and trust of someone nowadays in Jesus.

The myths are excellent guides for how to live a life. There should not be need for proof.
But when the believer thinks that it it history - then the question of proof arises.
It's an amazing step from myth to history, but somewhere between the 3rd and 10th century that transition was made.

There is no proof for a living Apollo. There is no proof for a living Jesus.

The spirit is within yourself!
