Farrah Fawcett, recently found to have cancer, said Friday she is maintaining a positive attitude and expects to recover completely.

"I am determined to bite the bullet and fight the fight while going through the next six weeks of cutting edge, state-of-the-art treatment," the 59-year-old actress said in a statement. "I should be able to return to my life as it was before."

Her publicist, Mike Pingel, didn't reveal what kind of cancer Fawcett has but said it was recently diagnosed and involves a fast-growing tumor.

The actress, who appeared with her former "Charlie's Angels" co-stars at an Emmy tribute in August to the late TV producer Aaron Spelling, said she has been overwhelmed by the "outpouring of concern, love, prayers and compassion" she has received from people around the world.

"I deeply believe in one's own positive will to overcome even the most daunting challenges," she said.

Not sure how this story didn't catch my attention sooner: yesterday, representatives of Farrah Fawcett announced that the former Charlie's Angels star has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Fawcett is currently undergoing radiation treatments in preparation for surgery and chemotherapy. According to Extra, she is apparently trying to keep a normal routine, as the show documents the fact that she worked out with longtime boyfriend Ryan O'Neal on Monday. But I'm sure she's freaking out a little about what she's about to face. I sure would be.

The article goes on to point out that Fawcett was the spokesperson for the American Cancer Society in the 1980s. Her older sister died of lung cancer eight years ago.

The median life expectancy after diagnosis is 20 months. Every added month is an achievement and by God, and because of God, we celebrate every one! If Farrah's was caught early enough, her prognosis can be very hopeful. My prayers are with her and her family. Her being diagnosed with colon cancer. Through all the years of viewing this woman It is terrible to see someone very full of life and beauty, and so capable, being shot down due to sickness. i say God bless her and i hope she recovers.

Farrah Speaks Out on Cancer Diagnosis

Despite this harrowing time, just two days ago Farrah and her former flame, Ryan O’Neal, were working out together at his gym in Los Angeles.

Ryan was often seen on her reality show, "Chasing Farrah," and he fought his own battle with leukemia in 2001.

Farrah’s devastating cancer news came just after an emotional "Charlie’s Angels" surprise reunion at the Emmy Awards in late August.

Backstage, Farrah’s fellow angel Kate Jackson told "Extra" about their precious 30-year friendship.

"Farrah and I are gorilla-glued at the hip," Kate said.

In a bizarre twist, both Kate and Jaclyn Smith have also battled cancer, but the beautiful Kate told us her secret to surviving the tough times.

"As long as you are healthy and you have love in your life, you are fine," she shared.

"Extra" has also discovered there’s a new angel in Farrah’s life: none other than Katie Couric, whose husband died of colon cancer.

We’ve learned Katie is working behind the scenes to help Farrah get the best doctors and the best treatment.

Ironically, back in the ‘80s, Farrah was the spokesperson for the American Cancer Society. Tragically, her older sister died of lung cancer in 1998.

And just recently, the beautiful blonde told us how much living a healthy lifestyle means to her.

"When I work out, it makes me eat healthier," Farrah shared.

We wish Farrah nothing but good health on her rapid road to recovery, and she is asking the public respect her privacy as she goes through this emotional healing process.

FARRAH FAWCETT has released a statement regarding her battle with cancer, vowing to stay positive during this trial.

The statement, titled "Positivity is a Necessity," reads:

"Throughout the journey of my life, I have maintained a strong faith in the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity. I deeply believe in one's own positive will to overcome even the most daunting challenges.

"I am resolutely strong and I am determined to bite the bullet and fight the fight while going through the next six weeks of cutting-edge, state-of-the-art treatment. I should be able to return to my life as it was before at the end of my treatment.

"I am so grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of concern, love, prayers and compassion from all over the world. You are all a source of enduring strength."

This week, the stars were shocked as they found out the news about the "Charlie's Angels" star.

"I love Farrah, I had no idea," TORI SPELLING said. "Our thoughts are with her, wishing her the best and a speedy recovery."

Funnyman ROBIN WILLIAMS put on a serious face as he wished Farrah well. "I send you much love and I say a prayer, too," he said.

Actress FRAN DRESCHER speaks from experience as she offers both advice and kind words.

"As a cancer survivor, I just hope they caught it early enough, because early detection equals survival," she said. "I think that's why we all have to be our own best friends and be better partners with our physicians and know what the early signs are and get all the cancer screening tests that are available."

*Oooh my godness* i like them and watch to movie "charlies Angel" too.
i am sorry to hear from Farrah Fawcett.

I remember about Charlie’s Angels and my mom is used love this show in late 70's.

It looks different from 70's when they are getting older.

This thread here fresh my memory about them. They were my big fan in 1970s time. I love to watch Charlie's Angels every week. They are still my fan... I like to watch them in different movies than Charlie Angels...

I'm glad to know that they positive their healthy. I am glad that they survived from cancer treatments... All what I hope for Farrah to be surivive, too because she is still young. They are my thought and heart.

As a kid I used to watch them, too. Beautiful ladies back then and still are.

However, I do notice that Farrah did look quite older than the other two. So that surely explains why she looks bit older than others since she's having this cancer.

Wish her well.

The cause of colorectal cancer is unknown

Click to this link. it gives you the list of unknown, but with "more risk" to people who have these symptoms..

I have family history with colon cancers (both of my grandmothers died from it) so My family and I do get our colonscopy check often as we can (yearly or 2)

I wish Farrah to recover healing nicely!

Sad to hear that but at least she is doing something to do it..

I believe that almost everyone should get it checked out no matter what..

I loved to watch "Charlie's Angels" when I was a kid too. Fun show to watch.

I hope Farrah beat colon cancer. She had some hard times the last 10 years or so in her personal life and now this. Her long time boyfriend, Ryan O'Neal has cancer too--blood cancer and has it under control for now I think. So they have something in common together and can support each other in their fight against their cancers.

im hope she will heal really soon but she really hard time to getting better anytimes because her older sister have lung cancer they now she have colon cancer i think so.

and Farrah Fawcett in People magazine talking about her battle with cancer but i will post it of her story about it i would MUST post cover of her in people magazine!

Farrah's Fight Against Cancer

At the Aug. 27 Emmys Farrah Fawcett made a triumphant appearance, reuniting with her Charlie's Angels costars Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. For Fawcett, the public reunion – to honor the late TV producer Aaron Spelling – was an emotional boost, a career highlight, a chance to savor the public's enduring affection and applause. But in the days following, despite her good spirits, she knew something wasn't right. She told friends she felt fatigued. "She had...

I was collect all of her pictures when I was in high school. Farrah was my fan. I have cards of Charlie's Angel and many magazines of Farrah in the box somewhere in the attic. I always want to have my hair looks like her hair style.

I am definetly buy a magazine this week. Put it in other collect 1970's magazines. :)

That's awful to hear this news. I hope that her cancer will be gone soon as possible. In these recent pictures, they had a plastic surgery on their face.

Do you have a link about those three ladies had their plastic surgery? How do you know?

Farrah will always be an "angel." But, like other adolencent boys, I watched it and was "turned on," but not by Farrah. Kate and Jaclyn were the ones for me. In fact, Jaclyn has always been my favorite and is one of very few actresses I'd like to meet. The show was part Kate's doing, as she had THE SAY of who the other angels were. Kate was actually, if I remember correctly, supposed to be the role of Farrah before she was hired and Kate switched roles, which was a smart move on her part. In essence, even with Bosley, this show was #1. Cheryl Ladd and also Tonya Roberts were both good on that show, but for me, as I said, Jaclyn.
