Explosions at Boston Marathon finish line

Many runners from my city competed at Boston...but came back "safe"....We will have the 5K "River Run" here in Jacksonville next month (early June, I believe)...and many people are scared and wondering if the same thing might happen here.....Our Mayor and Police Chief have said they have "taken precautions"...but would not note what they were.....

This is a very sad tragedy....and if an American did this....IMO...will only make it worse.....then again, any terrorist...anywhere...are Cowards, heartless monsters...killing innocent people.
 
I will say this though, the media and social media could easily get someone killed.
 
I remember about Atlanta bombing in 1996 but not worse as Boston Marathon bombing due to less number of injuries.
 
They just released photo and video. Can't post from my phone. Everyone in the city will be looking these guys.
 
Well, the NY Post almost gave us yet another Richard Jewel - two in fact, innocent people targeted as terrorist without proof. Yet another attempt from the media to destroy lives without evidence. From what I saw, briefly from the FBI, it looks like two white American kids in the late teens, early twenties. Time will tell...when we have them in custody and they're identified.

After 9/11, we had an Israeli Terrorism specialist to review our Logan and US airports with regard to his suggested recommendations to improve safety. He had a list of changes we needed to make, and we threw them out the window. Why? Because "this is America" and freedom above all else...but as Thomas Jefferson said "The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." We can't ignore that we're targets and whether these kids turn out to be Saudis or jerks from NJ, the problem remains the same. The world chooses to make statements with violence - whether it's mentally ill people going on a shooting/stabbing spree - we need to address the gaping holes in the mental health field - or acts of violence such as what happened in Boston - we need to be prepared to give up our freedoms for the good of the whole. By not making concessions, we risk losing too many innocents.

I'm finally home from France. The security at Charles De Gaulle airport was very tight especially for those flying to America. I was pat-down and my bag inspected twice - at the entrance and just prior to entering the plane. They were selecting people with large backpack and I had a large backpack....
 
It's hard to look at the pictures of the crowd knowing so many got injured. There is even a couple taking a picture of their infant. Hopefully they were not injured.
