They don't always have the available help, especially when their cashiers call in. I used to work in a grocery store and it was hectic when we did not have the available help. Sometimes supervisors and managers would have to open a register. Most grocery stores though will open up a new register if the help is available once 3 or more people are waiting per line. I'm pretty patient since I know what it is like to be in a hurry to get customers out the door. The best time to avoid lines is either early morning between 7 and 9 AM or night between 9 and 11 PM. Most stores have staff that get off at 11 and come back at 7, and the amount of shoppers is a lot less at these times. THe earlier in the morning, and the later at night, the better, although sometimes, stores only run 1 cashier for the whole night.

I'm pretty patient waiting in lines at grocery stores, I would take my time checking out gals and chat with friend if he/she is with me. :)

:giggle: @ Seq the humper tree. Checking girls out huh? How cute. :D

I am very patient when it comes to waiting at the grocery stores, 15 minutes isn't that too long Ravensteve. Learn to be patient and read something like a magazine from the shelf next to you. :D

However, there also self-check out too at the grocery stores, But I don't know if you all have one at your store too. I sometimes use the self-check out when I have very light groceries. ;)

I am patient when waiting at the grocery stores too. To pass the time waiting, I usually look at magazines on the shelfs with their titles to see if any of them appeal to me, or just look at the cover of "trash magazines" (like the National Enquirer) to see what kind of crazy stuff they put in there. LOL If someone's with me, I chat with that person while waiting. :)

Who doesn't?

I don't get ugly about it but just annoyed. It depends alot on what you are waiting in line for. If you are waiting to see that movie, actor, or something you really want to see, well I think you be patient about it.

If it is trivial stuff like grocery shopping, goint to the Walmarts and etc..., it gets very annoying as you don't have all day to stand in line. I usually gauge the lines pretty well and get through pretty quickly. Once in a while, you are stuck...

My wife has a talent for getting in the wrong line most of the time...weirdest thing...

I like self checkout by not all stores here have self checkout. I think someone should make it manditory that all stores that are run by corperate company must install at least 5 self checkout counters. Then you wouldnt have crowded situations.Samething like a sports stadium or a movie theater box office. They must have automatic ticket machines so you cant stand in long lines.

I am very patient to wait for the line in the stores and that is not bothering me at all.

it doesnt bother me at all but it does bother my kids.. i just keep them occupied. like open a cookie box or cracker and feed them, read those stupid tabloids so that way you wont have to end up buying them.

The cookies and crackers that you put in the shopping carts while waiting to pay for it? :Ohno:

I've seen some people do that at the grocery store while waiting in line, they open a bag of chips, Isn't that kinda like thefting because they didn't pay for it yet to open it? I just felt weird when they do that.

yeah.. I did talk to grocery store manager abt that, they said it was okay because you can not help young children because they don't understand the concept of patience or waiting a long period of time as long you pay for it and let cashier know that you opened it. pretty simple solution. :D

It is OK to eat packaged food in line because you still pay the full price for the package.

However, eating fresh produce, such as grapes, in line is stealing because you pay for the weight of the item. Naturally, the weight will be less if you eat some of it before checking out.

Yes, You got a point but, there were other times when people pay for their foods recovered, the cashier wouldn't accept their checks or bank card for a reason, then most likely they have to leave without paying because they don't have extra cash in their purse with them. I've seen that happen often.

Yes, that can happen.

I suggest that moms bring little baggies or plastic containers of Cheerios, crackers, or other favorite snacks with them when they go shopping. Bring your own stuff from home, and then give to the kids while standing in line. No problem then. :)

Exactly :thumb: That's what I do. And sometimes when you go to the meat market area in the grocery store, when you asked for a pound or half pound of anything in the meat area, they would ask does your son would like a piece of bologna? It was nice of them. ;)

I´m very patient person.

Some of stores have children playground. My children went there alot while we made our shopping and also waiting line, too.

Use a bullhorn to tell them about your frustrations like I did in 83 when I saw the cash register accepting checks in a cash only line in a supermarket. The attenton was overwhelming.

I aint' worry about the line up and as long I can wait patience.. (chuckles) but espically some of cashier was kind not know what do w/the product and telephone to the dept and to ask for the price.. *Ridcousily* Tag bar already there but computerzited not found the price.. *rolls my eyes up* Why can't they are not prepared it ?

I did sometime open the package (Ready to go) Hot meal from grocery.. I lurv tempt eat Wedges.. while wait the line up.... Almost runs it out the wedges.. I told the cashier.. *giggles* I'm starve and cannot wait to eat it.. so i eat it and still ongoing pay for it.. Cashier lauff'n at me, not you only the ones as same rest other some customers does...
sometimes I tempt to read the Soap Opera, to seek for Days our of lives' happening. (Chuckles) but not buy it.. Just tempt and to read it while I'm on standing the line up.

The local Piggly Wiggly here has a little "movie theater" for the kids inside the grocery store. They play kid movies (for free).
